Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience in a relevant industry in autofocus hardware components integration of consumer products or in autofocus algorithms development, tuning, etc.
  • Experience coding in C/C++

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
  • 5 years of experience in autofocus
  • Experience with numerical image analysis and image metrics
  • Understanding of machine learning or image/video processing algorithms for consumer photography or mobile applications
  • Knowledge of coding with Python

In this role, you will support Pixel phones and continue to raise the bar of quality and innovation with Pixel cameras. Image design for Pixel is a complex system with hardware platforms, software, and Artificial Intelligence (AI). You will utilize hardware knowledge to design excellent features and functions of image systems to make Android cameras pleasant and useful in versatile products. You will work with various stakeholders, including Hardware Engineers, System Software, Chip Developers, and Algorithm Developers to make it happen.

Responsibilities

  • Work on autofocus algorithm/structure and hardware lens for implementations, set up needed tests for validating image tuning, and manage final image quality tuning of Android product cameras.
  • Evaluate the architectural autofocus relative design and algorithms for digital photography, computer vision, or machine intelligence scenarios, and commercialize Google products and features.
  • Design, define, and specify computer vision and machine learning IP for autofocus efficiency and accuracy. Author hardware specifications for effective and practical implementation.
  • Engage with different sensor, module, and key component vendors and incorporate technology into Google products.
  • Work with System on a Chip (SoC) Architecture and relative algorithm teams to understand and improve the architecture and use cases.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with Psychology.
  • Experience with C++, Python, and Machine Learning libraries (e.g., JAX, TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.).

Preferred qualifications:

  • PhD in Computer Science, Psychology, Linguistics, or a related subject.
  • Experience in evaluation techniques, including experiment design and statistical analysis.
