Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 7 years of experience with iOS or Android application development.
  • 7 years of experience with performance, large scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, and/or debugging.
  • 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, and/or cross-business projects.

As a Senior Staff Software Developer on the AR App Platform team, you will help build and lead the development of a software platform that will enable a thriving ecosystem of AR applications to be built, distributed, and enjoyed across multiple form factors and hardware generations. In addition to designing and building complex software systems, you will contribute to broader technical strategy, and will use your technical expertise to guide a group of developers, often across multiple teams, toward solving difficult, ambiguous problems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for a key facet of our AR App Platform.
  • Guide and vet systems designs to solve ambiguous problems. Review design documents and code written by other developers and provide feedback.
  • Design and implement system-level and platform-level software components. Write robust, reliable, efficient, and testable software. Communicate design and implementation decisions effectively through design documents, diagrams, and code.
  • Drive cross-functional efforts that involve teams across Google to solve complex problems that span technical, organizational, and societal dimensions.
  • Mentor and train team members on design techniques, coding standards, debugging complex systems, and developing best practices.
