Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, Mathematics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3 years of experience in a data analysis related field (e.g., business intelligence, data scientist, quantitative analyst)
  • Experience in language for statistical computing (e.g., R, Python) and/or Javascript
  • Experience in data visualization tool and research platforms

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, Mathematics, or related fields
  • Experience presenting complex scenario analysis to management/executives
  • Experience developing, running, and working with production-level machine learning applications in Colab
  • Ability to communicate complex findings in a structured and concise manner to a non-technical audience with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to operate effectively and flexibly in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment

About the job

The Central Analytics and Governance team (e.g., Cloud Finance Business Intelligence) supports the broader Cloud Finance organization under the Business Finance Officer and Google Cloud leadership. Our team owns the long-term Financial Reporting Strategy roadmap, and works with the Finance Transformation Office and Engineering partners to build stable financial reporting, advanced analytics and modeling, as well as automation tools, with the goal of producing accurate financials, enabling decision intelligence and reducing the reporting burden on analysts.

We control the Google Cloud profit and loss; drive modeling, forecasting, and automation efforts and lead data science initiatives to advise on optimal money and HC resource allocation and drive accountability. Our deep business knowledge, data mastery, and keen insight allow us to be integral partners and strategic advisers to the Google Cloud leadership team. Our reporting and analytics suites are used by users daily across Google Cloud, TI, and Google Cloud Finance organizations.

In this role, you will help shape how Finance partners with key Google Cloud executives and drives margin accountability. You will have opportunities to lead and contribute to high-visibility, high-impact projects with exposure to vice president-level executives.

From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, launch, and optimize analytical/simulation frameworks, pipelines, dashboards, and business intelligence solutions spanning ETL and storage and visualization layers.
  • Devise and run financial models, scenario analyses, and driver-based simulations
  • Provide analytical decision making support on profit and loss items, strategic projects, and ad hoc executive requests through advanced analytics, modeling, and probabilistic simulations.
  • Support machine learning scientists on performing exploratory data analysis for feature engineering, and analyzing model outputs and relationship with features for model performance improvement. Work with machine learning scientists to improve usability and interpretability of existing machine learning models through the design of appropriate metrics, visualizations, and alerting systems.
  • Engage broadly with Go-to-Market, Product, and strategic Finance, to identify, prioritize, frame, and structure complex, ambiguous problems where advanced analytics projects or tools can have the biggest impact.
