Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, Neuroscience, Engineering, related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in applied product research.
  • Experience with hardware and software.

Preferred qualifications:

  • PhD in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, Neuroscience, or Engineering.
  • Experience in accessibility or working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Experience in Data Science or Machine Learning.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to synthesize and communicate ideas.

About the job

As a Human Factors Researcher, you will be working with a growing and dynamic team of Researchers, UX Designers, Industrial Designers, Product Managers, and Engineers to envision and realize Google hardware products.

You will iterate on consumer feedback and needs to ensure that the final product delights and empowers them. You will inspire change at all stages of product development by delivering exciting verbal, written, and visual presentations about your findings.

Responsibilities

  • Support pre- and post- device quality initiatives to ensure successful launches.
  • Quantitatively evaluate user interactions with devices and services – specifically visual, auditory, tactile, and haptic interactions.
  • Assess bio-metric and ergonomic measurements across various user populations.
  • Disseminate research findings (primary and secondary) to various audiences leveraging storytelling and empathy.
  • Conduct exploratory research for next generation devices and generate new hardware guidelines from existing literature and primary research.
