Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Experience in computer graphics or applying computer vision in products.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
  • Experience with synthetic data generation or data augmentation for machine learning.
  • Experience in computer graphics technologies, pipelines, and tools (i.e., Houdini, Maya, Blender).
  • Excellent problem-solving, verbal and written communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

About the job

As the Software Engineer, you will develop synthetic data pipelines to scale up training data to accelerate ML development and deployment, and apply computer vision techniques to facilitate data generation and enhance our product user experience. You’ll work with researchers and engineers in a fast-paced product-oriented environment.

As part of the Project Starline team, you'll work with researchers and engineers in a fast-paced product-oriented environment. Our teams collaborate closely with Google Workspace and Research teams. Your contributions will have an impact on the future of communications with Google products. You will apply technology to solve that really important problem that we often want to be together and we can’t.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $185,000-$283,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Generate synthetic datasets and augment reality datasets used to train and test ML-based computer vision models.
  • Design, develop, and maintain synthetic generation pipeline that runs at scale using 3D computer graphics tools and libraries.
  • Apply computer vision techniques to enhance Project Starline user experience.
  • Improve animation, rendering, and procedural scene generation capabilities to the synthetic data generation pipeline.
  • Interface with Research Scientists, Software Engineers, technical artists within the team, and cross-functional partners to identify and prioritize work.
