Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience analyzing data and creating reports, working with SQL and multiple datasets
  • Programming experience in Python for analytical, statistical, and/or machine learning use cases
  • People management experience with technical teams (e.g., data science or data engineering)

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree, MBA, or PhD with a quantitative focus in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Economics, Physics, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Statistics, Accounting, or related field
  • Experience in product analytics, business intelligence, data science, or data warehousing
  • Ability to apply statistical and machine learning methods to solve real-world problems
  • Ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders across different functions and geographies to manage change and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Excellent communication skills and executive presence to influence Google colleagues and manage business priorities

About the job

As part of the Cloud Support Data and Analytics (CSData) in this rapidly growing business, you’ll play a key role in using data and machine intelligence to optimize the Cloud support experience for Google customers. We work collaboratively with Cloud Support and Product teams to create analytics solutions which enable data-driven decision making and help deliver an effortless customer experience. You’ll work on a variety of exciting stakeholder projects with opportunities to address problems which require innovative solutions and data products. We apply machine learning to drive automation for Googlers and vendor support agents, and Google Workspace and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) customers around the globe.

Our Predictive Services team within CSData is responsible for all advanced analytics and machine learning needs of Google Workspace and GCP support services. As a Manager, you'll lead a team of data scientists, data engineers, and technical program managers. You will work closely with functional leads and their teams--technical solutions engineering, vendor operations, self service, product, systems, and more--to accommodate the demand for data solutions and actionable insights. You will also be responsible for collaborating with technology partners for data and tools development, including customer facing or support agent facing machine learning solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a team of data scientists, data engineers, and technical program managers.
  • Consult with key stakeholders on data and technical issues based on in-depth business and technical knowledge. Provide guidance on technical implementation feasibility and share findings and recommendations with support stakeholders and leaders.
  • Develop tools and insights for wider organization and clearly communicate results of complex technical work.
  • Identify business opportunities and drive impact assessment, stakeholder buy-in, technical design, and success measurement. 
  • Coordinate and own data science programs and roadmap across support areas, including analytical decision making, reporting, predictive analytics, and/or machine learning.
