Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of software engineering or development experience with coding experience using Java, Python and/or R, including experience with SQL.
  • Experience with data analytics and/or data science technologies with on-premise and/or cloud technologies data.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience contributing to an open source project.
  • Experience with blogging and writing technical articles for an existing follower base, and speaking at technology conferences.
  • Experience working directly with customers, partners, or third-party developers, and advocating or mentoring for new and existing technologies and programming languages.
  • Experience within one or more of the following industries: retailing, media and entertainment, sports, gaming, financial services, and higher education.

About the job

Cloud Developer Relations Engineers (DRE) are Google Cloud Platform (GCP) experts who are passionate representatives of our technologies to our communities and an advocate for those communities back within Google. Our goal is to increase awareness, mindshare, and adoption of GCP. Advocates accomplish this by creating impactful and relevant content (blogs, presentations, demos, etc.) and engaging with communities (developers, etc.) online or at first-party or third-party events. To drive feedback back into the product teams and improve our offerings, DREs work closely with Product Managers and SWE teams. In this way, DREs help drive strategy around Developer Relations.

You’ll help developers and architects understand how Google’s products can be used to support a wide range of legacy and cloud workloads in a variety of enterprise and consumer areas within the domain of data science and data analytics. You will focus on data science and data analytics on Google Cloud Platform covering products and technologies (e.g., BigQuery, Cloud Dataflow, Cloud Composer, Apache Spark/SparkML Hadoop, TensorFlow, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities of adoption for Google Cloud technologies within specific verticals in the use case domain of data analytics and data science.
  • Create plans and initiatives (in collaboration with sales, marketing, and engineering leadership) that create momentum and drive the success of Google Cloud Platform through your knowledge of, and interactions with key third-party technical communities and key customers.
  • Consult on and advocate during customer adoption engagements to ensure optimal execution of the opportunity (e.g., strategy ideation, POC development, production implementation).
  • Advocate for your community internally, influence Google Cloud product strategy and craft narratives around new products and features by working with Product Management, Engineering, PR, Marketing, Business Development, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Build and foster an external community ecosystem of influencers, meetups, experts that amplify our messages and extend our reach.
