Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • PhD in Economics, Finance, Management Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in causal inference methods.
  • Experience in coding (e.g., Python or R) and utilizing databases such as SQL.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in consulting and public presentations.
  • Knowledge of designing and analyzing randomized experiments and causal studies using observational data, especially with models leveraging panel data.
  • Ability to use macroeconomic or time series models to answer complex business questions such as vector autoregressions, Bayesian structural times series, and structural modeling.
  • Ability to lead projects and own project creation to communicate the results to executives.
  • Excellent applied time series analysis skills.

About the job

In this role, you will analyze drivers behind internal metrics, diagnose and improve performance of forecasting models. You will also assist in producing reports of the external macro-environment. Furthermore, you will help teams analyze the impact of products and programs using causal inference methods. You will translate vague questions into research questions on which you can base a study, and communicate findings to non-technical audiences while being transparent about uncertainty and the assumptions used in the analysis.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $124,000-$182,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Drive the short and long-term performance of internal metrics. Produce forecasts for internal metrics, using models which can incorporate information from other metrics such as macroeconomic variables to improve forecasts.
  • Produce forecasts and risk scenarios for key macro-economic variables, keeping up to date with current macro-economic developments in the United States and Europe.
  • Work with insights and strategy teams to understand impacts on our business. Present recommendations to business executives and cross-functional partners.
  • Utilize natural experiments to estimate driver impacts on key metrics. Collect data from external and internal sources to supplement the aforementioned models.
