Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 5 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 7 years of experience designing and implementing OS and application runtime components.
  • 5 years of experience with embedded operating systems.
  • 5 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Experience with bare-metal or RTOS-based microcontroller development in C or C++.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: microcontrollers, SoC, ISP, DSP, GPU, device drivers, hardware bring-up, power management, ARM processors, firmware, hardware/software integration, developing and debugging machine language, or wireless connectivity.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading our media efforts including audio, video, and camera domains.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development efforts for our media team, including audio, video, and camera software and hardware components. Guide efforts to utilize accelerators such as DSPs, GPUs, hardware, and software codecs.
  • Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback. Mentor and train other team members on design techniques, and coding standards.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality. 
  • Design, guide, and vet systems designs within the scope of the broader area, and write product or system development code to solve ambiguous problems.
