Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of relevant work experience in system software development (e.g., kernel, device drivers, firmware, software that manages kernels, machines, or devices).
  • 6 years of experience in an engineering leadership role with a focus on computer graphics and GPU

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of hands-on technical leadership and people management experience. Experience in leading, managing, and developing large teams.
  • Large scale embedded systems design experience.
  • Software development experience in one or more general purpose programming languages such as: C/C++, Java, or Python.

Pixel Graphics System Software enables everything from simple low-power animations to rich UI, high-end games, and on-device image processing make the best use of the Pixel phones' distinctive GPU hardware. Our team also supports GPU bring-up for new devices, works with partner and vendor teams to investigate graphics anomalies and slow performance, and comes up with innovative ways to use the GPU as part of a tightly-integrated device package.

As a leader in our core GPU driver team, you will help set the agenda for the future of the kernel GPU driver and user-space graphics driver stack, coordinate implementation efforts that build on Pixel's strengths, and enable amazing new products.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of talented engineers.
  • Coordinate teams of engineers across the globe to make improvements, often involving mentoring engineers and helping improve the team's velocity. 
  • Advise Android and Pixel leadership on performance and feature opportunities in graphics software, and scope solutions with partner teams inside and outside Google.
  • Seek general solutions to problems, minimizing application or device-specific workarounds to serve users of all Pixel devices, including in-market devices.
  • Help bring-up and evaluate devices, and work with product and engineering teams to define the role and requirements of the GPU in future product designs.
