Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Supply Chain, Data Science, Business, and Engineering) or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of relevant work experience (e.g., forecasting, capacity planning, demand planning, technical program management, and operations tool development).
  • Experience in data analysis and manipulation using Python and/or SQL.
  • Experience with Distributed Systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in capacity planning, inventory optimization, or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working with engineering teams in a highly technical field, and interest to learn more about Google's Technical Infrastructure and Google Cloud technologies.
  • Experience identifying and driving solutions that reduce toil, increase efficiency, and improve the customer experience.
  • Experience in data modeling, trend analysis, statistics, and forecast.
  • Ability to balance big picture thinking and drive projects in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment.

About the job

As a Demand Planning and Inventory Optimization Lead, you will identify and drive projects to reduce the overall unit cost for Google Cloud Storage, a key priority for Google Cloud Storage leadership. You will be front and center of all cost and pricing decisions within Google Cloud Storage. You will help Storage leadership drive key business decisions related to budget, efficiency, cost, and pricing. This role requires a unique combination of Technical Infrastructure prowess, data analytics, communication, and influencing skills. You will leverage your skill set to solve cost reduction and pricing problems.

Responsibilities

  • Own key optimization projects and work with cross-functional stakeholders (within and outside Google Cloud Storage) to execute and achieve long-term cost reduction goals.
  • Drive the overall roadmap and prioritization of cross-functional projects aimed at increasing the accuracy/stability of Google Cloud Storage demand planning and optimizing the safety stock.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and define metrics, KPIs and dashboards for demand planning and inventory management.
  • Analyze current demand planning and inventory management processes, identify opportunities for improvement, define requirements, and collaborate cross-functionally and globally to improve processes and tools.
  • Provide the required hands-on software development, project management, cross-functional coordination, and inter/intra team communications to deliver the desired program outcomes.
