Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms
  • 5 years of experience testing and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture
  • 5 years of experience in operating system/drivers development and large-scale system design

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
  • 5 years of experience working with embedded operating systems
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, and/or cross-business projects
  • Experience working in certification efforts as part of hardware or software projects
  • Development experience with power consumption, USB-C, WiFi, Bluetooth, or other hardware standards

The Chrome OS Infrastructure team provides infrastructure enabling Google and its partners to easily develop, validate, manufacture, and release ChromeOS hardware and software.

Additional Information

(Colorado only) Minimum full-time salary range between $198,000 - $212,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.

Note: Disclosure as required by sb19-085 (8-5-20) of the minimum salary compensation for this role when being hired into our offices in Colorado.

Responsibilities

  • Develop plan to migrate Chrome OS's build system from its legacy build system to new system. Work to break down this complex and ambiguous project into well scoped projects that team members can help execute.
  • Create code changes to the existing Chrome OS build system to make the build experience of Chrome OS engineers better.
  • Serve as mentor to engineers on their growth and development path. Provide technical guidance and expertise as well as assisting to remove roadblocks.
  • Manage technical challenges within the Chrome OS infrastructure. Define tractable technical roadmap for them.
