• Organizational leadership experience, including experience collaborating with teams and executive leadership.

About the job

As the Vice President for Data Science and Engineering (DS&E), you will lead our Data Science and Engineering team for Google Search and Assistant, a centralized organization that helps inform business decisions and improve our products and user experiences through data insights, predictive models, experimentation, and analytics. This team is a critical partner delivering insights that inform both product/market strategy and feature development roadmaps.

In this role, you will provide engineering leadership and direction that spans all data infrastructure and analysis products built by our organization. The engineering decisions you make and direction you set will generate impact at the Google-scale for both Search and Assistant. This will deliver insights extracted from Google's wealth of data, thus enabling teams throughout Search and Assistant to have the data and tools to make sound decisions more accurately and quickly.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for the team, be a thought leader, and ensure Data Science will influence key product and engineering decisions. Partner with key stakeholders and business leaders to shape the future of consumer products.
• Be a strategic partner of Search and Assistant teams and leaders, advocating for users and ecosystem participants and taking a birds-eye perspective of product strategy, enabling the Data Science and Engineering organization to be on the forefront and anticipate research needs.
• Set strategy and direction for Data Science and Engineering and its organizational culture and leadership.
• Deliver insights to inform and influence strategic product decisions across the full product lifecycle, from ideation to landing for both Google Search and Assistant.
• Drive decisions for experiments and strategic analysis via innovative metrics and methodologies, experimental infrastructure, and automation of tooling, processes, and insights.
