Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3 years of experience with direct people management.
• Experience programming with one or more programming languages.
• Experience working with Data Analytics and/or Data Science tools/frameworks.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with Data Analytics products (e.g. BigQuery, Pub/Sub) in an enterprise context.
• Experience in a people management role within a technical division/organization, leading teams with diverse backgrounds (e.g., technology, product, operations, customer-facing) to execute on a shared vision.
• Experience working with third-party developer tools (e.g., documentation, APIs, SDKs, Client Libraries).
• Experience participating in online platforms (e.g. Open Source platforms, StackOverflow).
• Excellent management, leadership, and collaboration skills.

Part community manager and part developer advocate, Developer Programs Software Developers collaborate with developers at conferences and online, and advocate for developers interests internally at Google. As the Software Development arm of Developer Relations, we get excited about improving the developer experience. We love leveraging our technical expertise plus deep developer empathy to develop a delightful experience for developers who build applications and business solutions on Google Cloud Platform. This position will lead a team of software developers focused on creating idiomatic developer experiences for products in the Databases portfolio (https://cloud.google.com/solutions/databases) and GCP-wide. Our team largely works on authoring and maintaining customer libraries.

Responsibilities

• Create a working environment that promotes team health, psychological safety, constructive collaboration with individual autonomy, and team-wide impact.
• Support the professional development of the team, including helping find stretch opportunities and establishing career paths.
• Build relationships with partners across Developer Relations (e.g., Advocacy, other Product Area-aligned Developer Programs Software Development/Technical Writing teams, etc.) to ensure strategic alignment.
• Partner with Product/Software Development teams to improve the developer experience within Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including strategic alignment (e.g. shared goal planning) and launch coordination.
• Add new features to libraries, build/maintain code samples and tutorials, triage and address customer issues, and work with product teams to improve the overall developer experience for Google Cloud database products.
