About the job

At Google we work hard to earn our users’ trust every day, and the Counter-Abuse Technology (CAT) team aims to make Google experiences safe for everyone. We work to defend products across Google from unwanted, malicious, and abusive activity. Combining sophisticated algorithmic models with robust, large-scale infrastructure, the team guards against the full gamut of abuse attacks while ensuring the best possible user journeys. Our team works on efforts that provide effective enforcement and prevention mechanisms, including managing content abuse reports and appeals, fraudulent signups, logins and hijacking, suspicious device activity, spam campaigns, and more.

As a Senior UX Engineer, you will create experiences that are empathetic to users and guide people through abuse-related events. Whether it is to report abusive content or to appeal decisions made, you will always work to understand the user's point of view. To protect our users, you will collaborate with Product and Operations teams and other Engineering partners across Google Ads, YouTube, Geo, Gmail, and various other Google products. In addition, you will build and drive the adoption of common abuse fighting infrastructure and shared tooling to ensure consistency, quality, and development velocity.

User experience is at the forefront of how we create intuitive, innovative, and beautiful products that people love. We strive to learn and understand our users’ needs, behaviors, and emotions to gather insights that inform product strategy and design. Our UX teams include designers, researchers, content strategists, and engineers who are passionate about quality, usability, and simplicity. We work on collaborative teams to solve complex challenges and craft experiences that highlight our products’ unique capabilities and personalities. Our work touches billions while exemplifying a key principle that is core to Google’s philosophy: “Focus on the user and all else will follow.”

Responsibilities

  • Develop and share the strategy for a front-end ecosystem to support multiple UX projects and clients.
  • Provide creative and technical direction and feedback to guide projects while ensuring high quality and product excellence.
