The Digital Investment Bank’s Data & AI group is responsible for modernization of the Investment Bank through the use of data and data science. The group has two responsibilities, Data Strategy and Data Analytics. The group currently consists of data scientists, machine learning engineers and data science product managers. The group works closely with clients, bankers and collaborates with technology organization to bring to life insightful and delightful experiences. The group also has a large responsibility to work with data stakeholders, data product managers and data governance teams to deliver a consistent data strategy to enable data transformation and simplification.

Job Summary

This is a leadership role in the Digital Investment Bank that is defining the future of Banking. The role is at the intersection of program management, strategy applied to data, data science & data platforms, and technology.

  • Help data strategy in partnership with functions for the world largest investment bank
  • Help develop data products that can change the way we do business done today
  • Help data science team build a consistent data operating model in partnership with technology
  • Influence decisions on data product lifecycle management, change through programs
  • Interact with other high-performing teams within JPM to inspire innovation and champion data culture and change throughout the bank

Responsibilities

Strategy Development

  • Build framework for data strategy for the Digital Investment Bank production, consumer, lineage and controls associated with them
  • Lead effort to help program manage data science platform development working closely with the data platform and engineering teams
  • Create forward-looking data product execution plans in conjunction with various parties across the investment bank. Develop roadmap that is in the organization’s business plans, help prioritize and stage gate to ensure we maximum business value
  • Lead identification and articulation of innovation opportunities. Identify and prioritize experimentation hypothesis and use-cases that could be valuable insights

Thought Leadership

  • Apply industry leading data management techniques and methodologies to the data strategy and compliance (policies and standards) operating model; Design, structure, and own data products and solutions
  • Deep dive analysis of the current data and analytics landscape -- data architecture, hierarchies, quality, lineage, metadata, and governance, to identify opportunities, risks, and challenges and propose and own strategic and tactical solutions. 
  • Closely monitor industry trends and fintechs to update our strategy and execution

Execution & Delivery

  • Partner with senior business and tech stakeholders to shape up business and technical requirements; bridge the technical and business organizations and ensure we are building strategic data and data science products with a combination of market/user/competitor research and metrics.
  • Partner with tech to help build foundational data products that data and analytical solutions (e.g. data catalog, dictionary, taxonomies)
  • Partner with other data scientists to define and deliver a holistic data strategy
  • Own and maintain overall accountability for implementing the roadmap of initiatives across partners and stakeholders
  • Lead strategic review of solution development; provide clear and timely feedback to ensure business and technology solutions are delivered on-strategy
  • Lead or participate in project post-mortems; capture key learnings and develop case studies as appropriate

Stakeholder Management

  • Influence partners on execution, delivery, and quality; influence stakeholders on key decisions and change efforts
  • Partner with numerous lines of business within the CIB to help the strategic execution. Key partnerships include and not limited to CIB Chief Data Office, Data Engineering Teams and Data Governance Teams

Required Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities

We are looking for leader who is collaborative, consensus builder, looking to data and analytical transformation, thrive in building consensus and change through consistent messaging and who are focused on long term strategy and step-wise execution and delivery.

  • Bachelor’s degree and solid 10+ experience in data management and data domain business analysis, delivering technical and operational change
  • Experience in a large bank, financial institution or a strategy organization preferred (product manager, sales person, business manager, data analyst/engineer, data domain business analyst). Familiarity with Front-Office Data and Technology preferred.
  • Prior experience in roles and functions that are highly and that required understanding of data (data models, governance, quality, catalog, taxonomies), and technology architecture as related to business requirements, use-cases, and functional designs. Expertise in business analysis, functional requirements, use case design, data analysis disciplines is preferred
  • Innovative, capacity to think laterally, thought leadership, forward thinker with a good grasp of new technologies, marketplace, and regulatory environment
  • An outstanding ability to analyze problems with keen attention to the details, apply quantitative analytical approaches, communicate effectively and concisely, and work well in cross-functional teams
  • Strong collaborator and change agent who has demonstrated experience with influencing stakeholders to consider innovative solutions and leading analysis to support the decision making process.
  • Results-oriented with strong leadership skills and ability to work in a highly dynamic environment with changing and multiple priorities; ability to take ownership of tasks and manage an entire work-stream
  • It is a plus to have the following: statistical skills, advanced analytics, modeling, machine learning, programming language skills, knowledge of application, data, and cloud infrastructure architecture.
