The J.P. Morgan Asset Management (JPMAM) Data Science Team is part of J.P. Morgan Asset & Wealth Management. The JPMAM Data Science team focuses primarily on developing novel AI/ML methods to drive innovative solutions for data-driven investment decision-making, improved client engagement, and operational effectiveness.

This role will work closely with investment and data science professionals across Asset Management to proactively source, due diligence and draw insight from alternative data.

What You Can Expect

To work alongside our top tier professionals, including data scientists, data strategists, and investment professionals, driving product innovation and identifying opportunities to incorporate data analytics and machine learning into J.P. Morgan Asset & Wealth Management. Your responsibilities may include:

• Performing analysis on alternative and traditional datasets to develop investment factors and insights using cutting-edge machine learning and quantitative methods
• Developing subject matter expertise on the alternative data landscape for investments
• Integrating the developed investment signals/factors into live trading strategies
• Building an analytical investment toolset to cater insights to our analysts and portfolio managers
• Working closely with portfolio managers, analysts and technology partners to develop end-to-end investment solutions

About You

Key Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree or PhD, preferably in computer science, statistics, or other quantitative fields

• Strong analytical/modeling skills and business orientation with proven ability to use data and analytics to drive business results; strong technical background
• Experience with:
• Python, traditional ML and deep learning libraries (e.g. scikitlearn, xgboost, TensorFlow, Pytorch, etc.)
• Training and fine-tuning of the ML model for investment models
• Demonstrated experience using alternative datasets in investing and alpha research
• In-depth understanding of financial markets required
• Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and the ability to present findings to a non-technical audience
• Familiarity with cloud-based technologies
• Demonstrated experience working with engineering, developers and other technology teams
• Passion for learning and adopting a wide range of techniques in an agile environment

Highly Advantageous:

• Front office experience in finance (preferably buyside)
• Familiarity in incorporating unstructured data into investment research
• Knowledge of alternative data landscape
• CFA
