Job Description

The Corporate Investment Banking (CIB) Chief Data Office (CDO) is a business-centric organization whose purpose is to unlock value for our stakeholders through timely delivery of high-quality, compliant data. The CIB CDO oversees the overall strategy and execution of the CIB data agenda.

The team seeks a candidate to robustly support various Data Use initiatives across CIB, collaborating with firmwide groups, AI/ML teams and LOBs. Responsibilities include to oversee business as usual (BAU) activities for Data use cases and implementing strategic initiatives in line with evolving capabilities like generative AI and new developing standards. Data is a key priority and focus of the CIB. This is an ideal, high profile and very high visibility opportunity for a suitable candidate to showcase talent and skillsets.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the strategic vision of enabling data use while protecting data as an asset to the firm and help to promote this culture within the business.
  • Lead case management responsibilities and governance processes across all CIB sub-LOBs and global locations. This involves identifying, capturing, classifying, decisioning, and monitoring use cases within the CIB.
  • Facilitate the management of the CIB Data Use Council (‘DUC’) and our partner Wholesale Data Use Council (WHDUC) including meeting calendars, materials and actions.
  • Help to deliver CIB wide training, awareness and communication strategy / campaigns on data use. Create and manage plans, tasks lists and presentations and coordinate cross-functional teams requirements.
  • Act as a trusted partner to the business and provide advisory services as required. Ensure engagement with Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Cyber and Tech Controls to establish appropriate guardrails for data use.
  • Collaborate with Data Solutions Automation team to innovate and enhance data use governance processes, fostering a dynamic approach to our existing workflows. Continue to build out the existing inventory of how data is used across the firm, and by third parties to promote calibrated and well thought-out decision making.
  • Implement standards and protocols for data use within the CIB; embed a risk-based framework for identification and escalation of cases. Provide partner relationship management, including managing interactions and agendas with senior partner executives, defining and prioritizing key issues, gathering information, accessing resources, recommending and implementing actionable solutions.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • The candidate must be self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced, results-driven environment. Additional qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in or related to financial services and financial technology with demonstrated appreciation and aptitude for leading disciplined, complex projects within a business-to-business environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of a broad set of CIB products and processes. Demonstrated ability to interact and work effectively with senior management and other stakeholders to support the goals of the business.
  • Desire to create structure for data and drive results and utilization of this structure in order to improve the JPM framework/environment.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong partnerships with numerous teams and key stakeholders. Excellent prioritization, time-management and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking. Strong communication skills – verbal, written and technical (e.g., PowerPoint). Ability to present concise, direct and timely communications to executives, management and key partners; strong presentation skills is essential.
  • Ability to thrive in a changing work environment. Ability to execute tasks under aggressive targets and effectively manage changes in planning. Demonstrated interest in emerging technology and “Big Data” in the financial services industry.
