Job Description

JPMorgan Chase & Co. is a leading global financial services firm with assets of $2.4 trillion and operations worldwide. Our rich history spans over 200 years, and we operate in more than 60 countries with more than 240,000 employees worldwide. A leader in investment banking, we offer financial services for consumers and small businesses, commercial banking, financial transaction processing and asset management. A component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average (NYSE: JPM), we serve millions of consumers in the United States and many of the world's most prominent corporate, institutional and government clients under our J.P. Morgan and Chase brands.

Payments includes Treasury Services and Merchant Services. Treasury Services is a business with firm wide revenue north of $9bn. JPMC’s decision in 2018 to integrate the business with Merchant Services offering now provides clients with access to the largest wholesale payments network in the world. Merchant Services is the global payment acceptance and merchant acquiring business of JPMorgan Chase & Co. Merchant Services is a leading provider of payment, fraud management and data security solutions, capable of authorizing transactions in more than 130 currencies. The company’s proprietary platforms provide integrated commerce solutions for all major credit and debit card payments as well as mobile payments. Merchant Services has uniquely combined proven payment technology with a long legacy of merchant advocacy that creates quantifiable value for ecommerce companies. Merchant Services is the #1 Merchant Acquirer Worldwide, based on volume, by The Nilson Report in April 2016. We are #1 in eCommerce volume in Europe, based on The Nilson Report. Merchant Services is also #1 in Merchant Processing Volume in the US with more than 20% market share, by The Nilson Report in 2018. Double-digit growth year over year in processing volume is evidence of our best-in-class distribution and the advantage we have in the market place with ChaseNet.

The Payments Data & Analytics team (reporting into the Head of Business Transformation for Wholesale Payments) is responsible for defining and executing the multi-year global analytics strategy and roadmap (e.g., optimizing payments performance of global merchants as well as driving payments innovation through analytics based insights products with an engaging user experience). The team is also driving the build out the analytics environment, establishing cross-functional and cross line of business data assets (across Chase, Treasury Services, Digital, Commercial Banking) and shaping Wholesale Payments Services analytics best practices overall.

The Data Scientist Lead role is responsible for executing big data analytics data science projects in response to product innovation for Merchant Services, specifically ChaseNet. ChaseNet is a closed loop platform that simplifies processing traditionally involving 5 entities (Merchant, Acquirer, Network, Issuer, Consumer) into 3 (Merchant, ChaseNet, Consumer). ChaseNet offers also a very simple pricing based on volume and transactions, inclusive of processing costs, assessments and payment brands fees. It is a Chase product that has been experiencing double digit growth over the last 5 years. As the analytics mature, these insights can be productized into products for ChaseNet merchants (“insights as a service”).
