Job Description

Applied Innovation of AI (AI2) team is an elite machine learning group strategically located within the Data & Analytics office of JP Morgan Chase. AI2 tackle business critical priorities using innovative machine learning techniques and technologies with a focus on machine learning for Software (Developer Experience), Cybersecurity and Technology Infrastructure. The team partners closely with stakeholders in these three areas to execute impactful AI projects that improve operational processes and reduce cost.

A lead technical project manager (TPM) is sought for a high profile management role within the team. The lead TPM will be responsible for line managing two junior TPMs to plan, schedule, and manage the delivery of AI projects. The lead TPM will have a high level of technical understanding of software development and the principles of AI and will possess key capabilities required for all project managers, including excellent organizational abilities, leadership, and communication skills. Responsibilities of this role include:

• Brainstorming on solutions and associated delivery schedules with engineering, data scientists and business stakeholders
• Review and validate the feasibility of project proposals and bring the project through a well-defined intake process for execution
• Planning the AI project
• Scheduling and designation of project tasks to team members
• Execution of each phase of the project and ensuring all on track
• Managing the project’s budget
• Communicating with all stakeholders
• Collaborating with department heads to achieve a common goal

The successful candidate will participate in sophisticated machine learning projects that seek to deploy a wide variety of complex applications for anomaly detection, generative AI and many more. The candidate must excel in working in a highly collaborative environment together with the business, technologists, data scientists, and control partners to deploy solutions into production. The candidate must be patient, energetic, highly organized, and excel at conflict resolution. The candidate must also be equally as comfortable talking to engineers as stakeholders. The candidate must have the ability to work with people with different working styles.

Responsibilities

• Work on some of the most complex problems imaginable at the intersection of two dynamic industries: Finance and AI
• Project manage the delivery of AI projects to the business, line managing two junior TPMs and working closely with data scientists, engineers and business partners.
• Collaborate with other high-performing teams within JPMC to inspire innovation and champion change throughout the bank

Minimum Qualifications

• Significant project management experience building applications from conception to launch
• Basic understanding of AI/ML concepts through experience or coursework
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to independently manage multiple projects in parallel
• Experience with working with engineers and data scientists towards building products is a must-have
• Experience with the end-to-end software engineering development lifecycle
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Confidence in making decisions under tight timing and pressure
• Curious, patient, hardworking, detail-oriented, and motivated by complex analytical problems
• Ability to work both independently and in highly collaborative team environments

Beneficial Skills

• Experience with JIRA, MS Office suite, and various request ticketing systems
• Experience with agile methodology (running scrums, burndown chards, sprint planning, etc)
• Scrum Master certification a plus
• Prior experience as an AI/ML Project Manager
• Experience of cloud technology
• Familiarity with data science model development lifecycle (data preparation, model training, etc.)
