The Global Technology Chief Operating Office (GT COO) Data and Reporting team is responsible for creating and maintaining a data ecosystem that supplies data, reporting and analytic capabilities across a broad range of data domains including Technology Application, Modernization, Public Cloud, Data Centers, Financials and Operational Metrics. The team partners closely with our technology partners working in a product based agile environment to build and continuously mature solutions to achieve our objectives to manage large scale transformation and modernization programs.

We are seeking an experienced Data Manager to collaborate with teams distributed across the firm to build and manage the Global Technology Chief Operating Office data management and reporting product vision, roadmap, and delivery. Given the importance of the domains, as part of this role you will have the unique opportunity to work closely with our most senior leaders across the entirety of JP Morgan Chase.

Responsibilities

  • Bring a product management mindset to our data and analytics by engaging with customers and stakeholders to understand their needs, evolve product requirements and be the voice of the customer in the product strategy and execution activities
  • Feed into the wider data strategy of the GT Chief Operating Officer organization
  • Partner with other domain product owners to collaborate and align product visions, architecture, data models and coordinate execution and delivery timelines
  • Discover, select, justify and collaborate with technology teams to determine optimal methods to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS 'big data' technologies
  • Support the development, grooming, and prioritization of the book of work, with accountability for clearly expressing all backlog items, user stories and acceptance criteria to best achieve product objectives
  • Work with a project manager to organize a small team of data experts in their execution against your roadmap and strategy
  • Balance the delivery of feature capabilities against foundational enhancements that support product: speed of delivery, scalability, sustainability, and security
  • Track and report progress to executive management and stakeholders via email, PowerPoint, Confluence, verbal, etc.
  • Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems
  • Identify potential roadblocks/ obstacles and escalate issues as needed

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in a top-tier technology or technology strategy firm, focused on data product management or a similar role, including at least 1-3 years managerial experience motivating and leading teams
  • Knowledge and fluency in enterprise IT management concepts including organization, product operating model, budgeting, talent, and risk management
  • Strong stakeholder management, as well as strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to interact with colleagues as peers and achieve goals without direct control over resources
  • Proven entrepreneurial drive to identify opportunities for impact and influence others to take action
  • Proven ability to structure and scope complex problems and apply a range of analytical and qualitative tools to develop solutions
  • Experience building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures and data sets
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Advanced working knowledge and experience working with relational databases
  • Strong analytic skills related to working with structured and unstructured datasets
  • Strong problem decomposition skills in translating high level executive asks into a functioning and leverageable data model
  • Successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets
  • Organized, adaptable, self-starter, highly motivated by challenge, and a team player
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while staying on track with commitments
  • Execution-oriented, and able to complete tasks independently
  • Great presentation and writing skills that enable clear communication of complex topics to multiple personas; from Sr. Executive to front-line users
  • Tableau experience for analysis is preferred, but not mandatory
  • MBA or advanced degree from a top-tier program is preferred, but not mandatory
  • Financial services background and/ or Cloud experience is preferred, but not mandatory
