Job Description

As an Area Data Owner with Account Opening and Activation you will be responsible for all data that is created, provisioned, or consumed in one or more business applications, and which may support business objectives, advanced analytics, business operations, and reporting functions. The Vice President Area Data Owner serves as a subject matter expert to help define and classify data critical to their business area. They will also collaborate with technology and business partners to ensure that required data is delivered in a manner consistent with the quality and safety requirements of the business. In support of these functions, the Area Data Owner will be responsible for executing processes and procedures that identify, monitor, and mitigate data risks throughout the data life cycle in compliance with policies and standards. 

Job responsibilities:

  • As Product Owner for data delivery teams, build and groom the backlog defining initiatives and epics to guide the team's work and outcomes
  • Develop data strategy to modernize data including cloud migration and build a better data input for analytics/data science teams
  • Create plans on how to develop and deliver data for the business area to support business operations, strategic objectives, and advanced analytics
  • Document requirements for the content and quality of data for their business area, and coordinate with technology and business partners to deliver requirements
  • Develop processes and procedures in the product (data as a product) management lifecycle. Identify, monitor, and mitigate data risks across the data lifecycle in their business area, include risks related to data protection, retention and destruction, storage, use, and quality
  • Partner with technology and business resources to resolve identified data issues in a timely and consistent manner
  • Manage direct or matrixed staff to execute data-related tasks

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • 6 + years of related data experience
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Expertise in data technologies such as analytics, business intelligence, data analysis, machine learning, data warehousing, data management & governance, data quality, and big data
  • Experience with risk and control requirements
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills
  • Good business acumen and strategic thinking

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Understanding and practical experience in big data engineering and analytics (SQL, Tableau, Alteryx, Spark, Athena, Snowflake etc.), machine learning (python, JupyterLab, LLMs), Public Cloud related technologies & their applications
  • Open data standards, data taxonomy and vocabularies, metadata management
  • Knowledge of agile delivery tools i.e. JIRA
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of cloud based technologies like AWS
