As a Software Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within Trust and Safety, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You will have the unique opportunity to work with a highly talented team of engineers who are at the forefront in infrastructure development. The team has built cutting edge capabilities such as a decision engine, dynamic rule authoring, real-time data aggregation, and velocity engine to name a few. Your role is vital in shaping a trusted platform that drives essential functions of Risk, Compliance and Identity teams.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes standard software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting
  • Writes secure and high-quality code using the syntax of at least one programming language with limited guidance
  • Designs, develops, codes, and troubleshoots with consideration of upstream and downstream systems and technical implications
  • Gathers, analyzes, and draws conclusions from large, diverse data sets to identify problems and contribute to decision-making in service of secure, stable application development
  • Learns and applies system processes, methodologies, and skills for the development of secure, stable code and systems
  • Write code by collaborating with your peer engineers and product managers.
  • Participate in peer code reviews
  • Ensure all deliverables adhere to the timelines, quality, and performance.
  • Triage production issues and follow on-call processes
  • Contribute to design documentation.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 2+ years applied experience
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
  • Exposure to agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security
  • Emerging knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • Good understanding of algorithmic design
  • Good understanding and experience applying advanced object-oriented design and development principles.
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn new technologies and adapt quickly.
  • Highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Knowledge of distributed systems design
  • Exposure to cloud technologies
