We are looking for a Data/BI Engineering Manager to join us here at Global Shares a JP Morgan Company. To fit this role you will be highly motivated, able to work independently and revel in problem-solving and looking for new solutions.

Job responsibilities

  • Manages the move from a traditional database environment to a Datawarehouse based overall Data provision for the company
  • Hands on leadership of a team working in designing, developing and implementing solutions such as databases, data cubes, queries and views, reports, and dashboards.
  • Implements data structures using best practices in data modelling, processes, and technologies.
  • Enhances the performance of business intelligence tools by defining data to filter and indexes, lead performance tuning of BI applications.
  • Documents new and existing models, solutions, and implementations.
  • Collects, analyses, and shares data to help business teams drive improvement in key business metrics, customer experience, and business results.
  • Leads the integration efforts for merging Data visualisation and reporting platforms with enterprise systems and applications.
  • Explores the data and discovers patterns, meaningful relationships, anomalies, and trends.
  • Troubleshoots BI tools, systems, and software and track performance and production issues, and manages the escalation of production issues.

What you have

  • Years of experience in leading a diverse team in Data Engineering covering a broad Data brief – in BI and Reporting with experience in Data Solutions Design.
  • Years of Experience in Business Intelligence, analytics and reporting platforms with specific experience in one of the market leaders (Tableau, Power BI etc).
  • Years of Experience in a Senior Reporting and Analysis role with strong quantitative and analytical skills and a proven track record of turning large amounts of multi-faceted data into meaningful information.
  • Microsoft SQL Server knowledge is required with strong skills in writing & optimising SQL queries for analytics, including using SSRS for ETL.
  • Experience in data warehousing processes using advanced SQL functions and procedures , with focus on portability within multiple environments (QA, UAT and PROD).
  • Knowledge of ETL processes and data streaming from Operational data stores to data warehouses (knowledge of Kafka and SQL Server CDC would be a distinct advantage).
  • Experience providing business-related/and or technical subject matter expertise on large, highly complex reporting projects and business analytics to support management, multi functional departments, staff members, and peers. Strong verbal and written communication skills to explain confidential and complex issues and make recommendations to leadership.

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of specific business intelligence tools (such as Sisense, Tableau, Microsoft BI Stack).
  • Knowledge of MongoDB / Rest API / Server administration.
  • .Net programming in C#.
  • Experience working with source control repositories e.g. GIT.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to create specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs.
  • Awareness and desire to work with complex data analytics, data products, and Big Data technologies.
  • A deep knowledge of T-SQL query optimisation.
