Job Description

Morgan Health’s Health Care Innovation Team is seeking a quantitative analytics associate responsible for querying, compiling, manipulating and synthesizing large quantities of health-related data to assist Morgan Health and its business partners make data-driven decisions. In this role, you will utilize experience with health care and survey data and familiarity with health care quality measurement to conduct descriptive statistics, visualize data, and extract a story to provide insights to support JPMC’s health care initiatives. You will join a growing team of healthcare experts solving critical problems in employer-sponsored healthcare.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a health care setting and be passionate about health care transformation and creating data-driven insights. They will demonstrate skill in each phase of the analytics project life-cycle, including translating business problems to an analysis plan, data transformation, data visualization and description, statistical analysis, and data-driven storytelling. A component of job includes supporting the health care quality measurement portfolio across Morgan Health. This may include calculating quality measures and leading indicators using relevant data sources (insurance claims, biometric results, survey results, public or licensed data), identifying high impact areas of opportunity, and reporting out results.

The candidate should have proven success creating practical, actionable analysis plans and communicating their findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Beyond strong analytics and communication skills, the ideal candidate will be a self-motivated problem-solver who enjoys collaborating in teams and creates value by aligning data-driven insights with business objectives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work across Morgan Health to review business needs and translate them into data-driven analytics plans
  • Proactively identify relevant data sources (including insurance claims, biometric results, survey results, public or licensed data) and understand their limitations
  • Implement creative and efficient solutions to clean, join, and analyze data while adhering to HIPAA and firm-wide data use guidelines
  • Carefully review and validate analysis findings to ensure data quality and integrity
  • Leverage appropriate statistical techniques to bring actionable insights to Morgan Health and business partners
  • Support the health care quality portfolio across Morgan Health
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders to balance multiple projects
  • Clearly communicate analytics concepts and insights with non-technical teammates and stakeholders

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field or with a technical focus (including, but not limited to, computer science, statistics, engineering, math, analytics, epidemiology/public health)
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience with hands-on data science analyses and data visualization
  • Minimum 1 year of professional healthcare experience, ideally in a payer, provider, or employer setting with exposure to health care claims data
  • Understanding of applied statistics, including familiarity with interpreting statistical significance
  • Fluency with analytics tools and relational database structures, e.g. SQL, Python, R, Excel and/or Tableau
  • Proven ability to successfully multitask effectively and deliver results with limited supervision
  • Experience creating analytical presentations with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A team-oriented attitude

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Master’s degree in a quantitative field or with a technical focus (including, but not limited to, computer science, statistics, engineering, math, analytics, epidemiology/public health)
  • Experience working with medical and pharmaceutical claims data, including standard groupers, common data transformations, and population health metrics
  • Applied knowledge of the U.S. healthcare system, including understanding common business questions about the commercially insured population, value-based care, and point solutions serving the employer-sponsored insurance market
  • Comprehensive understanding of health care quality measurement
