About the Team 

STR’s Analytics Division develops novel solutions to the most challenging national security problems through advanced analytics. Our teams consist of motivated individuals with degrees in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, and data science. We use our expertise and creativity to take innovative ideas from conception to everyday use by our customers. 

The Analysis and Decisions Systems (ADS) Group in the Analytics Division works to help humans make the best decisions possible. We build solutions that make a difference in mission planning, autonomous systems reasoning, and more. 

The Role:

Work as part of a tightly knit team to design, develop, implement, and deploy advanced algorithms and software systems. As Predictive Analytics Lead Software Engineer, provide technical leadership on software development and assist other technical contributors throughout the software lifecycle, from early prototypes to integrated systems. This position is based in either our Woburn, MA or Arlington, VA office, and will take advantage of STR’s flexible, hybrid environment – when the work does not require use of STR’s facilities, you are welcome to work remotely.  Currently, we anticipate that you could work remotely as much as 50% of the time.

Who You Are: 

• BS in Computer Science or related technical field with 5+ years’ experience 
• Demonstrated expertise in Java
• Demonstrated understanding of fundamental probability, statistics, and mathematical modeling concepts
• Experience designing, building, testing, debugging, and maintaining a large codebase

Experience using the following:

• • Micro-service architectures 
  • Containerization/orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Agile software lifecycle methodologies and tools, such as JIRA and SonarQube
  • DevOps or CI/CD tools such as Gitlab
  • Test-driven development methodologies 

• A demonstrated ability to adopt new languages, libraries, and technologies 
• Ability to travel to Patuxent River, MD for on-site work on a quarterly basis 
• U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Security Clearance

• MS in Computer Science or related technical field 
• Demonstrated experience with Python 
• Experience with any of the following:
• Apache NiFi
• Kalman filters
• Building statistical models
• Machine learning
• Performance profiling and tuning
• Simulation systems for live-virtual-constructive modeling
• Hidden Markov models
• Optimization algorithms
• Databases and caching architectures 
• Familiarity with defense computing environments 
• Local to Patuxent River, MD area
• Active Security Clearance
