Job Description

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for surfacing and sense-making threats to national security. You will work across large multimodal datasets and lead efforts in designing, developing and executing data driven solutions on them. You will also work closely with various domain experts, both within and outside of the team, to translate domain knowledge onto the data and effectively answer key operational questions.

Responsibilities

• Apply analytics and machine learning techniques on a variety of datasets, and perform the necessary data engineering such as processing and cleaning to enable application of these techniques
• Partner closely with various domain experts to effectively interpret and exploit the datasets, and translate findings into meaningful insights relevant to downstream users
• Think proactively and creatively to identify opportunities for data driven solutions to answer various operational questions
• Oversee overall application of data science to achieve operational outcomes, drive development of tools and solutions that enable this, and manage challenges arising from practical execution of these solutions

Requirements (Minimum Qualifications)

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or related quantitative discipline, or equivalent practical experience
• Experience in applying analytics, machine learning or data mining, with sound understanding of the concepts behind them
• Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Python (preferred), with packages such as pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, etc

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of big data and streaming technologies such as Hadoop, Spark and Kafka
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
