The Role:

The MDA Group is seeking Signal Processing Researcher to develop and demonstrate novel signal processing, optimization, and machine learning algorithms for advanced sensor and electronic warfare applications. These algorithms will be integrated into larger simulation and system environments to enable rapid transition to support our customer’s needs.

A successful candidate will have demonstrated technical expertise in some of the following areas: optimization, electronic warfare, adaptive signal processing, machine learning, algorithm development, test & evaluation, model & simulation, systems engineering, radar systems, communications systems, and technical leadership. The role of a successful candidate will be tailored to fit within the existing team and leverage their strengths while enabling them to grow their career in both technical and leadership aspects.

This position requires skills working as part of and leading multi-disciplinary teams designing, analyzing, and demonstrating advanced algorithms for complex systems.

What you will Do:

  • Develop signal processing and AI/ML algorithms for short and/or long time scale sensor timelines for novel sensor and complex RF threat environments
  • Support modeling and simulation activities of advanced RF systems
  • Provide technical leadership to small, multi-disciplinary teams as appropriate
  • Clearly communicate with customers, stakeholders, sponsors, prime- and sub-contractors

Who you Are:

  • This position requires an active Secret or Top Secret /SCI security clearance, for which U.S. citizenship is needed by U.S. Government
  • PhD, MS, or BS in Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related technical discipline
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, technical, leadership, and mentorship skills
  • Proficiency in MATLAB and/or Python

Nice to Haves:

  • Demonstrated experience performing advanced research and development projects (2+ years for PhD, 5+ years for MS, 8+ years for BS)
  • Demonstrated leadership of complex research, development, and engineering efforts
  • Experience with RF technologies in the defense sector, particularly for sensing and electronic warfare applications
  • Ability to apply novel, innovative and interdisciplinary approaches to challenging engineering problems
  • Ability to create and present deep technical briefings as well as high-level briefings to Customers and senior management
  • Ability to survey literature to determine state-of-the-art, incorporate recent research and apply to current problem sets
  • Understanding and experience in interacting with decision-makers and customers to translate mission needs into an end-to-end analytical solution
