Job Description

Project Description

Artificial intelligence (AI), including machine learning and reinforcement learning, holds the potential to revolutionize aerospace systems by automating critical decision-making tasks. However, due to the black box nature of AI systems, safety and trust remain two of the biggest challenges to the deployment of these systems.

This project seeks to research and develop advanced tools for:

(1) finding failures through accelerated stress testing using reinforcement learning; and

(2) explaining machine learning and reinforcement learning models and their output. Prospective interns should have experience in rapid software development, machine learning, and reinforcement learning.

Interns can help with one or more of two roles:

(1) Help design, develop, and perform experiments for stress testing of safety-critical systems accelerated by reinforcement learning; and

(2) help design, develop, and perform experiments for explaining image classifiers. Please indicate role preference, if any, in application. During this project, the intern will gain research experience in machine learning and reinforcement learning.
