Job Description

As the Senior Manager, Data Architect you will build and lead our data engineering team within Finance as you oversee the strategic design, development, and maintenance of the Finance data infrastructure and systems to enable AI, automation, and innovative analytics, shaping the future of Finance data at Stryker.

Preferred candidates will be located in the Dallas, TX (Flower Mound, TX) area or the Mahwah, NJ area.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive data architecture strategy and roadmap aligned with business objectives, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Design and implement efficient and robust data models, data integration pipelines, and data storage solutions to meet business requirements.
  • Build, lead, and mentor a team of data engineers, providing guidance, technical expertise, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leadership to understand data needs, identify opportunities for data-driven solutions, and recommend appropriate technologies and methodologies.
  • Define and enforce data governance practices, data quality standards, and data security measures to ensure data integrity and compliance.
  • Work with Data Scientists in developing architectures that incubate our growing capabilities in generative AI and LLMs.
  • Conduct performance tuning and optimization of databases, data pipelines, and data processing systems to maximize efficiency and minimize latency.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate tools, frameworks, and technologies for data engineering tasks, ensuring alignment with the organization's technology stack and goals.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish data-related policies, procedures, and standards, and ensure adherence to data management best practices.
  • Monitor and analyze data infrastructure and systems, identifying opportunities for improvement, implementing enhancements, and troubleshooting issues to ensure reliable and efficient data operations.
  • Establish and maintain data catalogs and data dictionaries to enable data understanding, usability, and promote data governance.

What You Need

  • Bachelor's Degree in data engineering, data science, computer science, software engineering, or related field with applicable data architecture work experience required.
  • 10+ years’ experience in data engineering, big data technologies, or data management, including design and implementing data solutions across multiple projects and domains required.
  • 4+ years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Master's Degree or PhD in quantitative discipline preferred.
  • Proven track record in leading and managing a team of data engineers or data architects, ensuring effective collaboration and delivery of high-quality solutions required.
  • Extensive knowledge of data modeling principles and practices, including conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling, data integration, and data governance required.
  • Expertise in database technologies, both relational and non-relational, such as Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB, Cassandra, etc., including performance tuning and optimization required.
  • Strong understanding of data infrastructure concepts, including ETL/ELT processes, data marts, data lakes, and dimensional modeling required.
  • Proficiency in data integration and data pipeline development, using tools like Apache Kafka, Apache Airflow, or similar technologies required.
  • Deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and experience architecting data solutions in a cloud environment, leveraging cloud-based data storage and processing services required.
  • Experience with Azure or Databricks preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of big data technologies and frameworks like Hadoop, Spark, or similar, and their role in building scalable and high-performance data processing systems required.
  • Experience in data governance practices, data quality management, and ensuring compliance with data security and privacy regulations required.
  • Experience with scrum and agile frameworks required.

$141,500 - $311,700 salary plus bonus eligible + Benefits (Health, Vision, Dental, 401K, Tuition Reimbursement, Employee Assistance Program, Wellbeing Program, Employee Stock Purchase Program). This information reflects the anticipated salary range for this position based on current national data. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.

Travel Percentage: 10%
