As a member of the DRE (Digital, Robotics and Enabling Technologies) Strategy & Business development team you will work with the AI innovation unit, who are committed to bringing computer vision, AI/ML, XR and digital innovation to the operating room and other healthcare settings. You’ll contribute to fast-paced cycles of innovation and develop concepts and value propositions that power a wide array of Stryker’s solutions, including: surgical robotics and navigation, image-guided surgery, treatment selection, outcome assessment, and clinical decision intelligence. You will have an opportunity to work across a wide variety of therapeutic areas ranging from orthopedics and neurosurgery to emergency care and operating room safety and efficiency – plus many more. 

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Portfolio Manager to define and create a new portfolio of products in the fast growing, exciting space of AI and XR. In this role you will help support the development of our AI strategy and roadmap in collaboration with the commercial divisions.

Your key duties & responsibilities:

As a Senior Portfolio Manager at Stryker, you will compile and evaluate research on customer needs in the market or segment and translate those needs into specifications for future generation products, so we can continue developing and growing our business.

  • Gather and collate competitive information to drive insights.
  • Assesses the impact of competitive dynamics and points of parity / difference through competitive analysis.
  • Anticipate the needs of customers and patients and create a superior value proposition.
  • Obtain insights by leveraging key opinion leaders.
  • Understand customers and optimizes value proposition.
  • Analyze the validity and reliability of market research results. Understand statistical significance and basic hypothesis testing.
  • Effectively use and interpret qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Utilize market research and third-party data to identify key industry trends.
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally to create and own the business requirements in the product development (NPD) process.
  • Collaborate with the upstream marketing roles in the commercial divisions to collect and align on customer and business requirements.
  • Partner with product owners to ensure the product scope and time-to-market in project execution.
  • Responsible for delivering the business objective, marketing objective and leading the discovery process for the pre-commercialization plan.
  • Build financial business case model to support new product development funding and product return on investment.
  • Able to write key documents: business reviews, marketing strategies, proposals, and recommendations.
  • Leverage core competencies and the strategic assets of the organization to maximize new product development.
  • Collaborate with cross-divisional downstream marketing to support their commercialization plan.
  • Define a product lifecycle management (PLCM) plan as it relates to the overall business strategy.
  • Collaborates and influences others on cross-functional teams, advancing partnerships to achieve business objectives.
  • Develops key relationships with industry/market thought leaders, organizations, and institutions, in collaboration with other marketing leaders.

What we are looking for?

  •  6+ years of working experience of which a significant portion is within marketing in the MedTech industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Economics, Engineering, Life Science or relevant field (Masters or MBA Highly desirable).
  • Strong background and track record in product management and ideally experience in working in agile software development teams
  • A sophisticated collaborator, networker, and communicator, capable of leveraging these strengths effectively within a matrix organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while delivering on established timelines
  • Ability to be persuasive in the absence of organizational authority
  • Ability to understand and work within complex interdivisional procedures and policies
  • Minimum of 30% travel should be expected mainly to our Stryker Innovation Center in Freiburg, Germany or our locations in Northern America
  • Fluency in English. Good German skills desirable.
  • Location: remote within Germany, preference for proximity to our site in Freiburg, Southern Germany
