You will also have growth opportunities as we have a culture that supports your personal and professional development.

As a valued member of Stryker’s AI innovation unit, you will work alongside trailblazers, industry visionaries, innovators, and inventors who are committed to bringing computer vision, AI/ML and digital innovation to the operating room and other healthcare settings. You’ll contribute to fast-paced cycles of innovation and develop core technologies that power a wide array of Stryker’s solutions, including: surgical robotics and navigation, image-guided surgery, treatment selection, outcome assessment, and clinical decision intelligence. You will apply your core skills across a range of deployment platforms spanning from mobile applications, cloud services, and SDKs to embedded systems, edge devices, and mixed reality (XR) platforms. You will have an opportunity to work across a wide variety of therapeutic areas ranging from orthopedics and neurosurgery to emergency care and operating room safety and efficiency – plus many more.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Staff Data Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing scalable and robust data pipelines, data storage systems, and data processing solutions to support our organization's analytics, machine learning, and reporting needs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in big data technologies, data modeling, and best practices in data engineering. As a senior staff engineer, you will be expected to collaborate with other team members to drive innovation and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality data solutions.

  • Detail-oriented process improvers. Critical thinkers who naturally see opportunities to develop and optimize work processes – finding ways to simplify, standardize and automate.
  • Analytical problem solvers. People who go beyond just fixing to identify root causes, evaluate optimal solutions, and recommend comprehensive upgrades to prevent future issues.

What You Will Do:

  • Design, develop, and manage scalable, secure, and high-performance data pipelines, storage systems, and data processing solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and software engineers, to gather requirements, define project scope, and ensure alignment with business objectives and goals.
  • Provide technical leadership and expertise in the selection, evaluation, and implementation of data engineering technologies, tools, and frameworks.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of technical documentation, including data models, data dictionaries, and data flow diagrams.

What You Will Need:

  • BS & 6+ years of work experience (MBA and/or MS preferred)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in data engineering, big data technologies, or data management.
  • Strong knowledge of big data technologies, such as Hadoop, Spark, or Flink, and data processing frameworks, such as Apache Beam or Kafka Streams.
  • Proven experience with cloud-based data storage solutions, such as Azure Data Lake, or Amazon S3.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling techniques, such as relational, dimensional, or NoSQL data models.
  • Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra/Cosmos DB.
  • Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools, such as Apache Airflow, Luigi, or Azure Data Factory.
  • Knowledge of data integration patterns, data quality, and data validation techniques.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and project management tools, such as Jira or Azure DevOps.

$109,500-232,900 salary plus bonus eligible + Benefits (Health, Vision, Dental, 401K, Tuition Reimbursement, Employee Assistance Program, Wellbeing Program, Employee Stock Purchase Program).
