What you will do:

Ancestry seeks an exceptional, passionate, highly motivated Site Reliability Intern to join our SRE team this summer. The SRE team manages Ancestry’s cutting-edge cloud infrastructure and services, which manages the infrastructure. Our team is also responsible for developing and maintaining software solutions that manages these cloud infrastructure and other supporting systems. As a Site Reliability Engineer intern on the SRE team, you will help us build new and exciting software-driven solutions to improve site reliability and performance driven by AI/ML.

  • Work with the team to design and develop scalable software solutions to solve site reliability challenges
  • Contribute to the evolving architecture and design of the system based on ML, AI, and advanced data analytics capabilities
  • You will collaborate with the Architect and Engineers through the entire software development lifecycle to solve some challenges using various Machine learning algorithms
  • Work together with product and development teams to define software specifications
  • You will partner with the Ancestry data science team to build some of the software systems described above
  • Researching, investigating, and fixing a wide range of technical issues
  • Proactively learning about new technologies

Who You Are: 

  • Computer science degree (or related discipline) 
  • Good understanding of object-oriented design patterns, microservice architecture patterns, and a fundamental understanding of cloud deployments and methodologies
  • Fundamentals of data structure, algorithms, and programming, including test cases
  • Experience in at least one or more languages, including but not limited to Python, Java, and Go
  • Worked with databases
  • Familiarity and experience with current open-source tools and technologies upon which to build advanced data analysis tools
  • Understand basic concepts of AI/ML/Data science
  • Worked on tools like Pytorch/Tensorflow/Spark/Jupyter, etc.
  • Experience in building and deploying applications on the cloud

Internship Program Details:

  • Students must be enrolled in an accredited U.S. educational institution with a graduation date after August 2024.
  • Summer 2024 program dates are May 13 – September 6 (Please note we will have three intern onboarding dates to choose from: May 13th, May 28th, and June 10th. Students may offboard every Friday, beginning August 9th. All internships must be wrapped up by September 6th).
  • FULLY PAID temporary housing and travel to and from the internship are provided.
  • All summer internships will be in Lehi, Utah. You will work a combined hybrid and office-based schedule that allows you to choose which days you come into the office and which days you work from temporary housing/home (Utah students).
  • Interns have the opportunity to network and partner with other interns and industry-leading professionals.
  • You will participate in engaging events, including executive speaker sessions, professional development, and our annual Intern Days to showcase your project and work.
  • You will be required to work a full-time schedule (40 hours/week), Monday-Friday.
  • Company-issued laptop and equipment will be provided for the duration of the internship program.
