Senior Manager of Data Science- Computer Vision and NLP

We are looking for a Senior Manager of Data Science with expertise in fields of Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing (NLP) to join our centralized Data Science team, reporting directly to the VP of Data Science and Analytics .

What you Do

• In this role, you will be responsible for managing a group of talented data scientists in both San Francisco and Lehi locations.
• The ideal candidate will do the following:
• Partner with Product, Content, UX and Engineering stakeholders to identify, prioritize and deliver solutions in Computer Vision and NLP areas to improve product experience for Ancestry customers
• Develop, update, and implement AI solutions in Computer Vision and NLP areas at scale in the cloud (AWS) environment
• Responsible for the roadmap, planning, and delivery for portfolio of AI products in Computer Vision and NLP - from conception to prototyping, testing, and deployment
• Build and grow the Data Science team through hiring, management, and mentorship
• Establish strong working relationships at all organizational levels across different functional teams.

Who You Are

• Qualifications
• Minimum a Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics, Engineering, or related quantitative fields;
• 6+ years of industrial experience in machine learning / computer vision / NLP/ deep learning/ software development;3+ of managerial experience in machine learning / computer vision / NLP/ deep learning/ software development
• 3+ years of experience developing strong cross-functional partnerships with Engineering, Product, and Analytic teams
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain details of complex concepts to non-expert stakeholders in simple and understandable way
• Strong proficiency in machine learning and deep learning technologies particularly with applications in Computer Vision and NLP
• Proven track record of completing multiple data science projects end-to-end from idea generation, objectives formulation, to implementation and deliverables
• Direct experience implementing machine learning models using Python and deep learning lib (tensorflow, pytorch, ...)
• Ability to innovate and push the boundaries of data science capabilities;Demonstrated success leading a team with proven track record of delivering results;Experience influencing internal and external decision-makers;
• Excellent people leadership skills and a proven track record of developing high potential talent
• Self-starter, high level of motivation and ability to work well independently as well as motivate and energize teams
