Our Biometrics department drives design to generate data needed for quality decision making. Our goal is to drive excellence in delivery, improve decision making, while engaging and shaping the external environment by accessing and implementing innovative solutions.

We oversee and deliver all the statistical contribution to design, decision-making, interpretations and communication internally and externally for our therapeutic area portfolio.

The Head of Data Science & Analytics is a member of the Oncology Biometrics leadership team and will support the TA Biometrics function in strategic planning, implementation and delivery of the TA Data Strategy and also sits on the Oncology Data Science leadership team and the Data Science Leadership Team across the R&D Units.

• Lead Oncology Data Science delivery from Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing and Statistical Innovation to support the portfolio across early and late development
• Support future Data Science vision for Oncology Data Science as a key member of the Oncology Data Science Leadership Team and Data Science Leadership Team across R&D Units
• Connect data scientists to the scientists, medics, leaders in Oncology RDU– translate the hypotheses and problem statements into DS projects
• Support the Chief Data Science Officer vision and strategy
• Identify new areas of Data Science for future build

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree with 10 plus years of experience, or PhD degree with 7 plus years of experience within data science or aa relevant field. Experience in pharma/healthcare or other relevant areas
• Leadership Capabilities @ Level 3
• In depth knowledge of the technical requirements related to the role
• Recognized expert internally and externally
• Managerial experience
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationships
• Excellent influencing and collaboration skills working across with other senior leaders globally
• Ability to serve as “translator” between scientific problems to data science solutions and to lead others to learn this skill
• Ability to apply expertise to sophisticated problems, problem solving and quality focus

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience implementing a large scale initiative
• Experience working with IT partners for business solutions
• Able to manage budget and productivity targets/responsibilities.
• Expert problem solving and conflict resolution.
• Diligence – attention to detail and ability to manage a programme of concurrent activities
• Resilience – ability to overcome and empower others in the face of a changing environment
• Experience in leading significant organizational and change processes
• This role can sit at our Gaithersburg, MD; Cambridge, UK; Wilmington, DE, Macclesfield, UK; San Francisco, CA; or Waltham, MA location
