Lattice Ghost UAS, Sentry Tower, and other autonomous platforms work in tandem to fuse these detections using Bayesian inference. Applied Scientists at Anduril are specialists with domain expertise in at least one scientific discipline that applies to Anduril’s unique technical challenges. It is important that Applied Scientists also have a good range of knowledge within data structures and algorithms and understand algorithmic and implementation tradeoffs as a major part of the role will include switching context to new problems and ramping quickly on the right technical approaches.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Robotics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing high-quality solutions to challenging algorithmic problems in a production-grade programming language (Java, C++, etc).
  • Demonstrated experience performing analysis to complex data-driven problems to arrive at actionable recommendations in Python, MATLAB, or similar language
  • Ability to define experiments and analyses to make ambiguous technical challenges tractable
  • Demonstrated track record of systems thinking and ability to decompose complex problems into fundamental components and relationships
  • Excellent communication skills to work across a diverse team and engage in a leader or follower role where necessary
  • Must be able to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret security clearance

ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in software development using C++, with an emphasis on real-world systems integration problems and complex projects, demonstrated in the context of product development or program deliverables
  • Ability to pick up new concepts quickly & the ability to make technical recommendations
  • Experience processing sensor measurements from Radar, Optical Sensors, RF Sensors, or LIDAR
  • Experience with sensor characterization and modeling
  • Familiarity with classical and contemporary approaches for state estimation and tracking (e.g. Kalman Filter, Particle Filter)
  • Derivation of performance metrics and analysis of system performance
  • Multi-target prediction and tracking (e.g., Multi-hypothesis tracking)
  • Probabilistic inference and Bayesian likelihood estimation (e.g., Markov Chain Monte Carlo)
  • Experience in unmanned aerial systems
  • Experience in Docker, CircleCI, Linux
