A highly visible, senior opportunity to lead the Centre for Genomics Research’s (CGR)Clinical Omics data strategy. Using population-scale human genetics and dynamic omics, you will partner with collaborators across R&D to drive the strategy and build of CGR’s Multi-Omics data capabilities.

What You’ll do

We are seeking a passionate data and information strategist with a background or career passion in applying human Multi-Omics(incl. Genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics) to drug discovery and clinical sciences to support our growing portfolio of projects.

In this role, you will be...

  • defining CGR’s data strategies related to clinical multi-omics data acquisition, processing, analysis and integration;
  • working with leaders in human genomics, designing and implementing novel statistical multi-omics approaches on large-scale genomics data and delivering innovative science;
  • acting as a product owner in an Agile environment for new data capabilities
  • working in a matrix environment to capture the relevant requirements for software development, define tests and acceptance criteria for software deliverables;
  • working with data architects and internal data governance to establish and implement the relevant data models and standards;
  • representing CGR on internal and external reference and standard settings bodies;-collaborating closely with experts in translational science, bioscience, and clinical development contributing to the broader objectives and success of the company-wide Genomics Initiative;
  • engaging with collaborators across the organisation

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Higher education degree(or equivalent experience)in Bioinformatics, Clinical Informatics, Statistical Genetics, Complex Trait Genetics, Computational Biology, or a related subject area
  • Experience in a similar management role within academia or industry
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and non-experts, both verbally and through documentation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to work within a team in a quickly evolving environment

Desirable:

  • Experience with clinical informatics and awareness of the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP)and Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics (OHDSI).
  • Familiarity with ethics and regulations supporting genomic sample collection and storage.
  • Familiarity working on genomic studies involving one of AstraZeneca’s core therapeutic areas
