Cyber security is a significant component of our strategy to protect Telstra, our systems, and our customers from cyber threats. We are on the lookout for several experienced data scientists or engineers to help enhance our use of data science to strengthen our cyber capabilities.

As a member of a cross-functional team accountable for cyber security solutions using new ways of working (Agile, DevOps, Lean, Human Centred Design), you will provide key skills to enhance how we can use data science techniques to identify cyber security events and anomalies in ‘big data sets’.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Experience as a data scientist or data engineer (Relevant 3+ Years of experience is must)
  • Well-developed communication skills
  • Spark Programming:
  • Spark architecture;
  • Spark SQL and the DataFrame/DataSet API;
  • Use the DataSet/DataFrame and Spark SQL for efficient computations;
  • Use Spark Streaming / Structured Streaming to process streaming (real-time) data; 
  • Ingest streaming data from Kafka, and process via Spark Structured Streaming
  • Understand performance implications and optimizations when using Spark.
  • Python
  • Developing and implementing machine learning models
  • Building machine learning pipelines using Apache Spark 
  • HSE Responsibility: Take reasonable care for your own safety and the safety of others, comply with, and implement any reasonable Telstra HSE instruction, policy, standard, minimum requirement or procedure, and support Telstra to meet its duties under the relevant safety and environmental legislation. 
  • Continual personal and peer learning and development in all aspects of the technology, applications, and new ways of working.
  • Working Experience in Cyber Security Domain
