About AstraZeneca in Waltham, MA
The Waltham R&D site focuses on our small-molecule oncology research in North America, and is situated within a biopharma cluster of research institutions, medical centers, pharmaceutical companies and startups. The Boston region is consistently ranked #1 globally for research, investment, talent recruitment and lab space.
The campus, also known as the Boston BioHub, is one of the largest and most dynamic life-science research hubs in the region. It is home to more than 800 scientists working in nine different pharmaceutical and biotech companies. The site is also home to the AstraZeneca Incubator, a program that helps emerging companies advance novel and innovative healthcare solutions to meet the needs of patients. Summary of the Group
The Early Computational Oncology team works with our oncology drug project teams throughout the research and early development pipeline, from new target discovery to translational medicine and clinical trials. Our global group aligns its activities to AstraZeneca’s primary areas of focus in Oncology: tumor drivers & resistance, DNA damage response, immuno-oncology, epigenetics, cell therapies and antibody-drug conjugates. We deliver data-driven, actionable insights through the application of computational science to all areas of Oncology portfolio. The group has substantial expertise and a renowned track record in bioinformatics and data science, undertaking both portfolio applied informatics research and the development of innovative capabilities. Our team is expanding to meet the growing Oncology portfolio and the challenges of pre-clinical and clinical big data generation initiatives including DNA sequencing, single-cell and bulk expression, epigenetics, proteomics and CRISPR.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
We are looking to add a passionate, motivated Senior Scientist with a strong background and experience in tumor driver and resistance biology, ctDNA analysis and/or cancer genomics.
Education & Experience Requirements ?
PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Engineering or similar discipline with related technical expertise in either bioinformatics, computational biology, biostatistics, mathematical modelling, data science or knowledge engineering.
