The Data Analyst 3 role on the Customer Analytics team is responsible for collecting, analyzing and presenting data to improve decision making around the customer experience. This individual should have a high degree of curiosity about the business and the skills to discover impactful insights from data. They should be able to communicate those insights in a way that builds confidence and enables decisions that drive business value.

We are part of the Nordstrom’s Customer Analytics, Strategy team with the focus on supporting executive management with robust decision support data science. Here we build data science products and provide analytics consulting in support of strategic business decisions, including customer personalization, marketing, merchandise, supply chain, and digital experience. We work as the quantitative right-hand for the executive team with a passion for supporting data-driven decision making, a devotion to advanced techniques, along with a creative team spirit!

A day in the life…

  • Partner with key stakeholders to define success and develop measurement frameworks
  • Dive deep into complex business problems and provide insights on merch performance through hypothesis testing
  • Responsible for delivering a suite of analytical products include analyses, dashboards, insights, and recommendations.
  • Present the results to the stakeholders up to executive level and guide them to make the best use of analytics in their domain.
  • Own the definition and implementation of new metrics.
  • Find opportunities to use data to develop new strategies and improve overall performance.
  • Deliver high quality solutions and recommendations to a variety of problems both independently and through the collaboration with team members and business partners to
  • Bring data to life through storytelling in a clear and meaningful way to audiences with mixed levels of technical expertise.
  • Reconcile divergent demands from multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Mentor more junior team members on analytics, storytelling and communication best practices.
  • Influence and support the Center of Excellence standards and best practices of analytics.
  • Use advanced analytical and statistical practices to create thorough and actionable insights..

You own this if you have…

  • Bachelor's Degree in quantitative field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of professional experience analyzing complex data, drawing conclusions, and making recommendations.
  • 3+ years of experience in extracting & manipulating large data sets from various relational databases using SQL (Amazon Redshift, Oracle, Teradata preferred).
  • Strong problem solving skills - Is able to complete ambiguous projects independently & plan out the priority order of tasks; find the right resources to complete the tasks and make smart decisions regarding trade-offs.
  • Strong coding skills in at least one statistical or programming language (R or Python preferred) to import, summarize, and analyze data.
  • Experience with statistical and machine learning algorithms (e.g. regression, classification and/or clustering).
  • Proficiency with graphics/visualization software (e.g. Shiny, ggplot, matplotlib, Tableau).
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced and dynamic organization
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.

California: $89,000 - $169,000 annually, Washington: $89,000 - $169,000 annually

This position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more. Eligibility requirements may apply based on location, job level, classification, and length of employment.
