Job Description

The mission of the Machine Learning University (MLU) is to foster a community of ML practitioners who learn, apply, and advance ML knowledge. To do this, we develop educational programs and mechanisms that enable the tech community and engage scientists in teaching and mentoring others through our portfolio of programs.

With the recent advances in generative AI, we are looking to hire an instructor with deep knowledge of generative AI technology, and with proven experience applying it to solve concrete problems. We recognize that this is a new and evolving field and we look forward to seeing what you have done!

A successful candidate will be a passionate teacher with demonstrated ability to explain technical content (in particular machine learning, or generative AI content) to an audience of technical professionals, enhance curriculum, and coordinate with other instructors. Significant practical experience across domains and techniques are required to ensure content is up-to-date, practical and engaging. Key job responsibilities

• Teach courses: Teach at least one 120 minute lecture per week and host matching multi-hour office hours to work with students on projects and assignments integrating practical generative AI skills in each lesson plan.
• Develop and revise curriculum: Coordinate with Amazon scientists and staff to enhance the practical relevance of class content and incorporate current use cases and applications.
• Collaborate with scientists: Support the continuous engagement with Amazon scientists who contribute to the program as instructors and technical consultants.
• Work with MLU program managers to ensure that students receive a high-quality, experience at the right level of technical depth ranging from conceptual familiarity to masters-level competency.

About the team

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience
• PhD, or Master's degree and 6+ years of applied research experience
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
• Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning
• 2+ years of experience teaching technical content

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy etc.
• Experience Generative AI and with LLM specific libraries e.g. LangChain

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
