AWS has the most services and more features within those services, than any other cloud provider–from infrastructure technologies like compute, storage, and databases–to emerging technologies, such as machine learning and artificial intelligence, data lakes and analytics, and Internet of Things. AWS Platform is the glue that holds the AWS ecosystem together. Whether its Identity features such as access management and sign on, cryptography, console, builder & developer tools, and even projects like automating all of our contractual billing systems, AWS Platform is always innovating with the customer in mind. The AWS Platform team sustains over 750 million transactions per second.

Do you get excited working on new challenges every day? Do you like to problem solve, drive solutions and influence what features should be launched for customers? AWS Business Operations team is looking for a talented business intelligence engineer who can support driving deep insights, create forecasts, develop business metrics, ETL jobs and continuous improvement using the analysis. You will work with cross-functional teams across the company such as Accounts Receivable, Accounting, Operations, Customer Service, Development teams on a daily basis.

Key job responsibilities

  • Manage a team of Business Intelligence Engineers with a focus on developing the team and delivering results.
  • Develop a deep understanding of AWS’s vast data sources and know exactly how, when, and which data to use to solve particular business problems.
  • Implement best practices around data management, reporting, dashboards, and analytics.
  • Present to business leaders in both ad-hoc forums and routine monthly and weekly business reviews to supply the data necessary to make decisions.
  • Proactively identify projects and analyses that help grow AWS Billing, including defining metrics and goals.
  • Deliver timely, accurate and professional technical assistance to internal colleagues. Have the ability to dive deep in their understanding of AWS Billing and how their needs can be met with existing (and new) metrics and insights.
  • Develop a BI roadmap and manage priorities with the strategic goal of the team spending 20% or less of their time on ad-hoc requests.


A day in the life
BIEs on this team are collaborators. They work directly with stakeholders to understand business, program, and feature needs. This could be anything from building a dashboard, analyzing ROI, developing automation, and everything in between. They partner with the Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and other BIEs in org to build the infrastructure, tools, and automation needed to help the business exceed its goals. The team values professional development opportunities and makes time to participate in mentorships, classes, and stretch assignments. Managers shift between tactical and strategic lenses, developing roadmaps that ensure the BI team proactively builds the data, reporting, and analyses that underpin a growing business.

  • 3+ years of BI management experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on BIE/BA/DE experience
