Job Description

Are you ready to shape the next generation of BI and end-user analytics? Do you like to solve complex Business Intelligence and Data Visualization challenges? This role will specifically focus on our customer's adoption of Quicksight for dashboards and visualizations in embedded analytics. The role is to help our customers and partners to eliminate technical and economic constraints from their legacy BI tools and help them to leverage their data to develop business insights.

Amazon QuickSight is a scalable, serverless, embeddable, machine learning-powered business intelligence (BI) service built for the cloud. QuickSight lets you easily create and publish interactive BI dashboards that include Machine Learning-powered insights. QuickSight dashboards can be accessed from any device, and seamlessly embedded into your applications, portals, and websites.

We are looking for a strategic, results-oriented Business Intelligence Engineer to develop, deliver and implement visualization capabilities so that their customers can make data driven decisions. The ideal candidate will be excited about understanding and implementing new and repeatable processes and providing data to improve our operational effectiveness and product delivery. They will do this by partnering with key stakeholders to be curious and comfortable digging deep into the business challenges to understand and identify insights that will enable us to figure out standards to improve our ability to continue to globally scale our business. They will be comfortable delivering/presenting these recommended solutions by retrieving and integrating artifacts in a format that is immediately useful to improve the business decision-making process. This role requires an individual with excellent analytical abilities as well as an outstanding business acumen. The ideal candidate knows and loves our customers (internal and external) and will work back from the customer to create structured processes and mechanisms to examine key program metrics and drive improvements.

Key job responsibilities

  • You own the development and maintenance of new and existing artifacts focused on analysis of the business, metrics, and reporting dashboards.
  • Design, develop and maintain scaled, automated, user-friendly systems, reports, dashboards, etc. that will support our business needs.
  • Excellent writing skills, to create artifacts easily digestible by business and tech partners.
  • Your work incorporates business intelligence best practices, data management fundamentals, and analysis principles.
  • You are able to take well-defined requirements, build a solution, and deliver it on schedule.
  • You seek input and guidance from team members on both the technology and the business.
  • You have a good understanding of the relevant data lineage: including sources of data; how metrics are aggregated; and how the resulting business intelligence is consumed, interpreted and acted upon by the business.
  • You assume responsibility for the code, queries, reports and analyses you inherit or produce. You get your analyses and code reviewed. You test your code by validating outputs against source data, business logic, and related metrics.
  • You clearly document your solutions to ensure ease of use and interpretation, as well as maintainability by others.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field
  • 5+ years of professional experience in a business analyst/data analyst/statistical analyst role
  • Expert-level skills in writing and optimizing SQL to handle extremely large datasets
  • Proficient and strong experience QuickSight (creating dashboards, datasets, understanding of SPICE and direct query, etc.)
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, and an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
  • Proven problem solving skills, project management skills, attention to detail, ability to influence others, and exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and competing objectives in a fast paced environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a business analyst/data analyst/statistical analysis role
  • Experience leading large-scale analytics projects with BI solutions development using AWS technologies –Redshift, Athena, S3, EC2, Quicksight, etc
  • Knowledge of major data visualization tools including Tableau/Power BI etc.

  • Proven success in designing and implementing ETL Pipelines, Query Performance Tuning, and other data engineering techniques
  • Experience in scripting languages for parsing and data analysis
  • The base pay range for this position is $74,300 – 143,100 (hr./yr.). Pay is based on market location and may vary
  • depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on payment and restricted stock units
  • may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial,
