Job summary

AWS-Elemental, a leading provider of Media production and distribution services, is looking for a Senior Analyst to join their BI and Data Analytics team. In this role you will work directly with Product and Business Teams across the organization to solve complex analytical challenges using in-house tools to produce and share outcomes, ideas, and insights that will have a profound impact on the business.

The right candidate will understand not only how to mine, assemble, and analyze complex data, but will be excellent at communicating complex outcomes through various mediums, including analytic documents and online interactive content.

Key job responsibilities

Reporting to the BI team lead, the analyst will independently own and balance multiple short- and long-term analytic projects, requiring the ability to:

  • Work with business partners to produce and transform ideas and asks into detailed requirements and actionable goals
  • Develop datasets using BI tools (Tableau, QuickSight) and/or direct SQL queries against disparate data sources both inside Elemental and across AWS
  • When needed, write data pipeline specifications for more complex data requirements
  • Apply analytic and statistical methodologies to produce answers, ideas, and insights that are easily communicated to the business for feedback and ongoing iterative refinement
  • Employ rugged testing methodologies to assess outcome validity
  • Work with your team to transform one-time analysis into repeatable and reusable objects and workflows that can be deployed to the Elemental Tableau site as interactive dashboards and visualizations
  • Efficiently communicate project status to both stakeholders and team leadership

About the team

The AWS-Elemental BI program provides data and analytic services and solutions to the entire Elemental organization. We have two primary functions: 1) Content and data development/enhancement of our BI and data warehousing solution 2) Deep analytic studies focused on reducing operational costs, increasing revenues, or both.

We’re strong believers in enabling basic analytic self-sufficiency in our user community. As part of our BI Community of Practice, you’ll have the opportunity to share your own analytic and reporting best practices with other analysts and Tableau power users throughout the Elemental organization.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of professional experience in business analytics
  • BS in Math, Statistics, Data Science, Data Analytics, Economics, Finance or related field
  • Experience designing and optimizing interactive Tableau workbooks
  • A passion for Data Visualization techniques and the understanding of when and how to use them
  • SQL competency (CTEs, Window functions)
  • Experience with cloud-based data warehousing systems (Redshift preferred)
  • Experience delivering analytical projects end-to-end
  • Strong ability to interpret and communicate analytical outcomes and insights
  • Good verbal and written communication skills to both business and technical audiences

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate degree in in Math, Statistics, Data Science, Data Analytics, Economics, Finance or related field
  • Experience with AWS data analytics and pipeline tools
  • Strong Tableau experience (custom data sources, advanced development skills)
  • Familiarity with data science techniques, ML approaches to data analysis, and predictive modeling
  • Experience with cloud-based product analytical scenarios
  • Familiarity with Python driven data analysis techniques
  • Professional familiarity Media and Entertainment industry and/or the Media Content packaging and delivery domain
