Job summary
Amazon AI is looking for world class scientists to join its AI Lab. This group is entrusted with developing core machine learning algorithms for AWS. As a part of the AI Lab you will invent, implement, and deploy state of the art machine learning algorithms and systems. You will build prototypes and explore novel solutions to new problems at scale. You will interact closely with our customers and with the academic community. You will be at the heart of a growing and exciting focus area for AWS and work with other acclaimed engineers and world famous scientists.
Key job responsibilities

  • Invent, implement, and deploy state of the art machine learning algorithms and systems for ML applications.
  • Rapidly design, prototype and test many possible hypotheses in a high-ambiguity environment, making use of both quantitative and business judgment.
  • Collaborate with software engineering teams to integrate successful experiments into large scale, highly complex production services.
  • Report results in a scientifically rigorous way.
  • Interact with engineers, product managers and related domain experts to dive deep into the types of challenges that we need innovative solutions for.
  • Work closely with a mentor to expand your career with AWS

About the team
The ML and Forecasting team is part of AWS AI Labs, supporting several internal and external services in the area of time series modeling, with particular focus on forecasting (Labor Planning, Sagemaker DeepAR, and GluonTS) and anomaly detection (Amazon DevOps Guru). The team also collaborates closely with the science teams supporting services in related areas, such as Amazon Forecast and Amazon Lookout for Metrics.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters of Science in computer science, operations research, statistics, engineering, or mathematics
  • Proven experience in the field with a proven track record
  • Proven experience with machine learning and statistical modeling techniques
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as C/C++ and Python

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD in DSP, ML, or CS
  • Proven publication record in respected journals, conferences, Google Scholar, etc.
  • Proven software design and development skills
  • Experience working effectively with science, data processing, and software engineering teams
  • Proven track record of innovation and advancing the state of the art
  • Written and verbal communication skills in English
