Kumo (pronounced ‘Koo-mo’, the Japanese word for cloud) is the global product and engineering organization for AWS Support. Kumo provides software and technology services that intelligently anticipate and resolve AWS customer needs, helping them adopt, optimize and operate within the AWS cloud at scale. Kumo’s products, used by AWS customers and the internal Amazonian Support teams that help them, are vital to ensuring exceptional customer experiences on AWS. The AWS Kumo team is searching for an innovative, passionate, and customer-focused Software Development Manager with a track record of delivery. It is a green field role in the Automation and Recommendations space, where you will come in and will (1) establish the vision, (2) build the roadmap, and (3) build a team of scientists and engineers to deliver on this vision.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams
• Experience partnering with product OR program management teams
• 3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers
• 3+ years of experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field plus five years of progressively responsible experience in the specialty as equivalent
• 3+ years of experience managing a team of software development professionals within a distributed systems environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience working with both Software Development Engineers and Machine Learning Scientists or Applied Scientists
• Track record of delivering large scale software systems on time.
• Strong problem solving skills: Experience using problem solving and analytical skills to solve business problems and drive process improvements
• Have been successful working across organizational boundaries, bringing together people with diverse perspectives and experience to find solutions.
• Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

The base pay range for this position in Colorado is $184,900 - $250,200/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
