Are you a data analytics expert with experience working on large-scale sustainability transformations? Would you like to work with our customers to help them understand and leverage the benefits of the AWS Cloud? Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Senior Sustainability Consultant – Data Engineering on our Professional Services team to think strategically and analytically about our customer's sustainability challenges and form innovative ideas to solve them. Candidates must be hands-on data analytics experts, who can help our customers develop, deliver and implement sustainability projects to take advantage of the global scale, elasticity, automation and high-availability features of the AWS cloud. Our consultants will collaborate with customer teams to use solutions such as Machine Learning, IoT, batch/real-time data processing, Data and Business intelligence to help our customers leverage their data to develop business insights.

You have a keen sense of ownership and, most importantly, you know how to earn trust, think big, and work cross-organizationally to deliver results. You influence others to follow with data and customer advocacy. You will enjoy building and expanding your technical skills, and using these to help customers understand how to architect and implement systems and applications in the cloud. You will be happy to roll up your sleeves, get stuck into the detail of systems, create demos and proof-of-concepts, and generally do what it takes to achieve success for customers on the AWS platform.

The right candidate will be a passionate technologist, have broad and deep experience with sustainability initiatives in multiple industries, and demonstrated go-to-market success. Sustainability is a broad domain, but general level knowledge plus expert knowledge in at least one specific sustainability domain is required. They will have a proven track record of leading complex solutions programs. They will also have working knowledge of cloud computing and the related sustainability application platforms and initiatives.

This is a customer facing role. When absolute necessary, you will travel within EMEA to client locations and deliver professional services.

Key job responsibilities

  • Working backwards from customers, identify solutions themes, prioritize a portfolio of solution(s) for each solution theme, and AWS value proposition(s) for sustainability initiatives.
  • Deep understanding an implementation experience of data analytics approaches, systems and processes
  • Create and apply frameworks, methods, best practices and artifacts that deliver prescriptive guidance to customers, and publish and present them in large forums.
  • Guide customers’ technical architecture and investments, maximizing alignment with the AWS platform, and ease of adoption as new services and products become available
  • Together with the broader team, develop the technical side of the strategic plan for AWS, to engage enterprise customers and partners in this industry.
  • Represent AWS best-practices around innovation, product development, software engineering, data and analytics, and other platform capabilities to work
  • Develop C-suite and line-of-business relationships within customer organization.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in consulting, solutions development, product development, and/or data analytics roles
  • Understanding of database and analytical technologies in the industry including MPP and NoSQL databases, Data Warehouse design, BI reporting and Dashboard development
  • Hands on experience leading large-scale global data warehousing and analytics projects
  • Industry experience in Sustainability plus expert knowledge in at least one specific domain, i.e. carbon footprint, energy/water management or optimization, supply-chain (GHG emission tracking and analysis, packaging, transportation).
  • Fluency, both written and spoken, in both English and local language.
  • Experience in pre-sales, writing and speaking about technical concepts to business and technical audience, and giving data-driven presentations
  • Bachelors Degree

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • The right person will be highly technical and analytical, and will be capable of understanding the complexities of global enterprise IT environments.
  • Strong technical acumen and understanding of emerging disruptive technologies, like cloud computing, IoT, Data Analytics, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, AR/VR etc.
  • Passion for the targeted industry sectors – good understanding of how sustainability initiatives operate and the unique characteristics of the industry ecosystems.
  • Passion for cloud technologies – deep understanding of public and hybrid cloud platforms.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills. Experience communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple teams.
  • Professional Services background.
