Virtual Customer Advisor (VCA) team builds a suite of products which deliver relevant and timely recommendations to our customers globally (US, CA, EU & JP) using multiple data sources to improve a) AB adoption and b) Sales productivity. Sales and Marketing teams teams leverage VCA to identify which customers to target, what features to target them with, and when to target them, in order to capture their share of wallet.

VCA team’s mission is to (a) improve sales productivity by providing actionable insights and (b) improve Amazon Business adoption by customers. VCA uses data sciences and automation to provide several key features for Customer Advisors (CAs): 1) Account Scores that help CAs prioritize top accounts (existing and prospects), 2) Recommendations that help CAs sell/position the right AB product features, 3) Alerts that provide insights into their territory and real-time notification of notable events.

The VCA team is looking for an experienced and motivated Data Scientist to generate data-driven insights influencing the Amazon Business direction, build the necessary predictive models, optimization algorithms and customer journey analysis, personalization and behavioral segments allowing us to discover and expand the value proposition of Amazon Business Features to the customers.

This role can be located out of any of the Amazon Business locations in the United States, which include Austin TX, Boston MA, Arlington VA, Chicago IL, New York NY, Tempe AZ. Seattle WA- is preferred and full relocation would be provided to these locations.

Key job responsibilities

  • Improve methods of VCA account scoring, recommendations, and alerts with an overarching goal to help Sales and Marketing teams uncover hidden business opportunities leveraging hard data and advanced analytical techniques.
  • Develop algorithms for new capabilities, data pipeline, and trace decisions in the data and assess how proposed changes could potentially impact business metrics to cater needs of Amazon Business Sales and Marketing Teams.
  • Interact and collaborate with Product, Sales, Marketing, Sales Ops, Data Engineering, Business Intelligence and other teams to understand technical requirements and deliver scalable, relevant, and accurate algorithmic solutions.
  • Employ a range of data science methods, tools, best practices, and justify approaches to improve key VCA features.
  • Analyze customer behavior, apply data science techniques to automatically identify trends, patterns, and frictions of customer interaction and retention.
  • Build models that measure incremental value, predict growth, define and conduct experiments to optimize engagement of AB customers, and communicate insights and recommendations to product, marketing, and finance partners.
  • Write clear and factually correct documents explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Generate data driven insights to accelerate acquisition of new customers.
  • Predict customers at risk of churn and declining engagement.
  • Train new team-mates about VCA customers, how the team's solutions work, and how those solutions are reflected in the data.

In this role, you will be a technical expert with significant scope and impact. You will work with Senior Technical Product Managers, Data Engineers, other Data Scientists, Business Intelligence Engineers, Financial Analysts, and Software Engineers, to build new and enhance existing ML models to optimize customer experience. The successful Data Scientist will have extreme bias for action needed in a fast paced environment, with outstanding leadership skills, proven ability to build and manage medium-scale modeling projects, identify data requirements, build methodology and tools that are statistically grounded. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years of experience with data scripting languages (e.g SQL, Python, R etc.) or statistical/mathematical software.
  • 2 years working as a Data Scientist
  • Experienced in using multiple data science methodologies to solve complex business problems (e.g. statistical analysis, machine learning and deep learning techniques, data modeling, regression modeling, financial analysis, demand modeling, etc.).
  • Proficient with using scripting language such as Python, SQL, and data manipulation/analysis libraries such as Scikit-learn and Pandas for analyzing and modeling data.
  • Good understanding of supervised and unsupervised learning models.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related quantitative field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a ML or Data Scientist role with a large technology company.
  • Skilled with Python or similar scripting language, SQL, Java, and/or AWS
  • Advanced knowledge and expertise with Data modeling skills, Advanced SQL, Redshift and Columnar Databases.
  • Demonstrated industry leadership in the fields of Data Sciences and Big Data processing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to advocate technical solutions for science, engineering, and business audiences.
