Job summary

Are you a curious, analytical leader with a passion for transforming data into models, stories, and reports to answer critical business questions that will drive innovation? Private Pricing Product Management (3PM) is looking for a Business Analyst to deliver continuous business improvement of the Private Pricing program on behalf of our customers. The right candidate will own the analysis and insights from data models to drive informed decisions for the Private Pricing organization, thereby delivering ongoing value for both new and existing AWS customers in the program. The successful candidate will have a talent for developing accurate perceptions from several data sets, a knack for creating simplified reporting models, and the skill to bring clear, concise insights to senior business stakeholders in an environment of rapid growth and increasing complexity. The position requires excellent business acumen, statistical knowledge, and an understanding of the cloud value proposition/benefits in speed, cost optimization, and global scale.

Key job responsibilities

  • Apply analytics and business intelligence skills to extract meaningful insights and learnings from large and complicated data sets
  • Conduct and present analyses on customer buying trends, program effectiveness, and business impact to several key stakeholders, including Private Pricing leadership and the senior AWS leadership team
  • Build rich data visualizations to tell the story of business trends, patterns, and outliers
  • Test and challenge assumptions around AWS and Private Pricing customer value through an objective read of the data; build models to test Private Pricing’s impact to AWS customer experience and loyalty
  • Make recommendations for new Private Pricing constructs, or improvements to existing structures/frameworks
  • Interface with cross functional teams to fully understand and support Private Pricing
  • Direct, manage, and monitor data sets for continuous improvement and effectiveness

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of experience in a business analyst/data analyst/statistical analyst role
  • Experience using data visualization platforms (e.g. QuickSight, Tableau, PowerBI)
  • Proven analytical and quantitative skills and an ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, develop business cases, and complete root cause analyses
  • Experience conducting deep dive analyses of business problems; identifying root cause of business trends, formulating conclusions and recommendations
  • Strong interpersonal skills and advanced ability to communicate complex technology solutions to senior leadership, gain alignment, and drive progress

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree or higher in Statistics, Data Science, or an equivalent quantitative field
  • 8+ years of experience in a business analyst/data analyst/statistical analyst role
  • Experience as an industry analyst in the cloud space
  • Understanding of cloud commercial contracts, terms and conditions
  • Understanding of relevant statistical measures such as confidence intervals, significance of error measurements, development and evaluation data sets
