Amazon Web Services Region Services are looking for a Business Intelligence Engineering Manager to lead data analytics and insights. Our team generates insights from large quantities of internal and external data to support our mission to extend an AWS cloud to every community. You will build systems and tools that power our data management and analysis, enabling our team to prioritize the right level of support for the right communities at the right time in their cloud journey.

Data analysis is at the core Amazon’s culture, and your work will have a direct impact on decision-making and strategy for our organization. You will be gathering customer requirements, mining data, working with software development teams, creating data-driven dashboards, and helping senior leaders make key business decisions. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical abilities, outstanding business acumen and judgment, intense curiosity, strong SQL and Python technical skills, and superior written and verbal communication skills. Key job responsibilities

(1) Create a roadmap addressing the most challenging business questions from product owners, program managers and senior leadership

(2) Use data to articulate possible root cause analysis and solutions.

(3) Co-create with other analytics teams within Region Services to design and run experiments, and find new ways to improve business analytics and drive growth.

(4) Partner with stakeholders and internal customer teams to solve business and technology problems using BI metrics and scientific approaches to continue delight both internal customer team and AWS customers.

(5) Understand drivers, impacts, and key influences on business growth dynamics.

(6) Help build production systems that take inputs from multiple models and make decisions in real time.

(7) Utilizing Amazon systems and tools to effectively work with hundreds of terabytes of data.

A day in the life

As a Business Intelligence and Analytics Manager at AWS, you will be responsible for leading a team of business intelligence engineers and data scientists supporting end-to-end data analytics operations. The role will manage the development of intelligence products that support Region Service’s data infrastructure and data assets. You will work backwards from the Customer needs to build efficient data models that delivers critical KPIs and Metrics to influence leadership decisions. This position involves team management, design, architecture and operation of cloud systems.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, or related field
  • 7+ years leading and delivering data analytics and statistical solutions with experience in econometric modelling, metrics defining and reporting, exploratory data analysis and time series
  • Ability to distill informal customer requirements into problem definitions, dealing with ambiguity and competing objective
  • Experience in SQL and manipulating large data sets in a database
  • Experience with Python or other scripting languages
  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools like Tableau, QuickSight, or Looker

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of experience in a data or business intelligence engineering role at a technology company r 7+ years of experience managing Business Analysts, Business Intelligence Engineers, Data Scientists and/or Economists
  • Experience with Apache Airflow or another orchestration platform to programmatically author, schedule and monitor data workflows
  • Proven ability to deliver on ambiguous projects with incomplete or dirty data
  • Experience conducting large scale data analysis to support business decision making
  • Proficient understanding of data lake architecture
  • Strong verbal/written communication and data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical team
  • Familiarity with Amazon's cloud infrastructure including EC2, S3, Lambda, Neptune, Redshift, and Glue
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
